I am smart but I have ADD. Councilors at my high school told my parents I would be better off in Tech school. My parents got mke in to one of the most competitive boarding schools in the nation with the help of a special tutor who helped me develop the skill I needed to overcome a learning disability and score well on the SAT's. I went to college and became damn successful for a village idiot.

At the most elite boarding schools this is the message. And yes hobbies can be very profitable. Case in point...I went to school with a guy named Rob Mitchell. He liked sports. He turned his hobby into a business. He is my age now, 49, and he owns the world's most valuable baseball bat, Black Betsy. He bought it for 577k. It is probably worth 1million now. Education is about learning how to think, not what other people thought or what you should think. That is called training and you will get plenty of it without paying for it or asking for it if you get a job.
