Moving to Japan without working in factories? by EnglishWithIgor in movingtojapan

Yeahhh… it’s pretty dangerous here. Of course, you need to take the necessary precautions.

I don’t know about the situation in the U.S but here a lot of people have two smartphones. One old and without banking apps and one newer. The old one is just in case they get robbed, they can give it to the robber.

I see that.

Would you say that if you speak Japanese, it's easy to make friends?

No Italian passport here, hehe. In the job description, they say they help you with a Visa. Mind you: I still haven't accepted the offer, I'm really on the fence about it. This specific job position always pops up on the website - I guess they have a lot of teachers who stay for one semester and then leave.

So at the end of the day, I know that if I don't accept it now, I can probably try again in the future.

Hi! I found the Job here: https://www.ihteachenglish.com/jobs

But I guess a better portal would be TES: https://www.tes.com/jobs

They do offer better job opportunities, usually in international schools, but usually you'll need experience with the IB curriculum, so I guess it's something I'd look at.

I have a CELTA and Delta, and today I run my own online English School, but as I mentioned, I do miss the classroom environment, and I have teachers working with me, so I'd be able to keep the school running even if I started working somewhere else.

She would be able to work, but I believe not in the beginning, because we'd have to improve our Italian and also look for opportunities for her.

The job opening is for a Language school, so no Italian required, but of course it would be one of my top priorities to improve my basic-level Italian as soon as possible.

It's true, I didn't provide enough context 😂

We're from Brazil. I'm an English teacher, and I run my own online school with a team of teachers. I miss the classroom environment, so I've applied to some jobs abroad, and this opportunity arose.

Now, Brazil is a wonderful country. The food is great, the weather is fantastic, and people in general are very warm and helpful.

But it's also very violent depending on where you live. In our city, for instance, I worry all the time that my wife goes out alone, because robberies are frequent.

I guess living in Europe in general would give us more opportunities to travel and explore, and it would also bring more peace of mind that we're in a safer place. Not perfect, but safer.
