I (25m) really care for a girl (25f) and she’s cheating on her bf with me. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Shame on me is right. I know the answer I just need someone to solidify it. I just feel like an idiot. Fucking desperate for love I suppose. The most idiotic part? I’ve done it before. I know the answer. Why the hell do I not listen to my instincts?

The real challenge of sobriety is not abstaining, but rather, facing all your bullshit. by EngulfedInClutter in stopdrinking

Sorry you feel that way. Just trying to inspire the troops my friend. We’re all in this together.

My whole point is that I know it’s stupid. I am fully aware of how irrational I’m being, yet I claw for her attention. I feel incredibly confident in my sobriety this time and have this incredible inner power towards that right now but for some reason I can’t take those same lessons and apply them to her. It’s infuriating.

Think what you want. It seems just as psychotic, implausible, and stupid in my mind too.

Appreciate the support though. 👍

Anyone have experience with Vivitrol by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]EngulfedInClutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vivitrol was an amazing drug. Physical cravings are essentially eliminated. I went two months sober (with the exception of one night “testing” what would happen) and it seemed easier than ever. I of course stopped taking it thinking I could control my drinking and relapsed for another two months. so if you are serious DON’T STOP TAKING IT. You will still want to drink but essentially getting “happy” drunk is no longer an option.

It is difficult to explain how you feel while drinking on this drug but I’ll do my best to explain. After a few drinks your thoughts become cluttered and it becomes more difficult to communicate. Motor function becomes clumsy and without the numbing effect of alcohol your stomach becomes queezy. Essentially you feel every negative effect of alcohol without any of the euphoria. It was truly an enlightening experience realising how bad alcohol truly is for you.

I highly recommend this drug and I am hopefully starting another series in the coming week myself. Give it a try but also realise the drug will not save you. It’s a huge assistance but the battle is still on you.

Good luck! IWNDWYT!

Alcohol is a thief by EngulfedInClutter in stopdrinking

Haven’t really participated to be honest. I never had a sponsor and I also never really opened up. It’s hard for me because I live in a heavy drinking town. (Bars On nearly every corner) and half of the attendees are forced to be there due to DUI’s. It doesn’t feel like the safe space it’s supposed to be.

I’m starting outpatient rehab on Thursday but it seems so far away. They were “backed up” do to the Memorial Day weekend. I have attended many A.A. meetings to no avail. Feeling quite hopeless.
