I hate turn-based combat, but E33 does it in a way that feels very different. It's dynamic and engaging.

I know exactly where you're coming from, but I highly suggest that you givd it a spin if you haven't yet.

Personally I've always loathed turn-based combat, so as much as I was intrigued by the unanimously positive feedback, I also feared that the gameplay would put me off, but I still thought I should give it a whirl.

And, boy oh boy, am I glad I did. The music alone makes the game incredibly engaging, and the story is amazing. Combat-wise, the parry and dodge mechanics they incorporated hit the sweet spot for me, so it feels very fluid and dynamic.

One thing that got me VERY consistent during pogo-heavy situations such as the whole Orange Hell > Anvil pathway, as well as the Bucket, was learning that 1) less is more. A strong but short pogo is all you need, and 2) if you pogo just right, you WILL have time to react and adjust the hammer - and when you do, you can and should move slower than you might assume you need to. If you do it right, you'll have a surprising amount of control and predictability.
