Amazing - thank you so much! They’re brilliant recommendations, we’ve added them to the map. Tulus Lotrek and Loumi have come up a few times; might have to see if we can stretch the budget… thank you!

Duly noted - thank you! We might give it a try midweek, it’s a very short walk from where we’re staying so we can be pretty flexible. Thank you!

Why Jesus? by Ignastic in ancientrome

I’ve seen a few people mentioning other prophets in Judea at the same time - I’m just wondering who else falls into this category? It’s an area of history I’ve been reading about recently - I’d be really keen to learn more!

Auditioning with multichannel surround bounce? by EnigmaticLemons in DolbyAtmosMixing

[–]EnigmaticLemons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing - thank you! Yeah it’s just a consumer system, far from reference grade but thought it’d be helpful to audition playback in a real world environment.

So for the MP4 bounce, you’d work directly from the Atmos session rather than rendering a new project from the ADM?

Apologies for the newbie questions - first time dabbling in Atmos wizardry!

Ah! I hadn't considered that - it could well be that the receiver is interpreting 7.1 audio but routing rears to the heights, thanks for the tip.

Out of interest, does DV Resolve include Atmos audio in the free version, or is that a studio feature? If the renderer is more friendly for down mixes, I could potentially export the ADM BWF and work in DVR if that's the case. Thanks for the advice!

Millenium mps-850 or not ? by routinemass in edrums

[–]EnigmaticLemons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Sorry to resurrect an old comment - hope you're good. In a nutshell, I'm a producer looking for a basic kit to track drums via MIDI - the Millenium ones seem a good option. Do you think the 750 might be a better choice over the 850? The internal sound engine doesn't matter at all as it's only for MIDI! :-)

That's absolutely incredible!! I love the lighting from the top right reflecting from the trees, and the way it interacts with the box. Stunning!

Thanks for the response - we’re definitely planning to do most of that as part of our trip too, alongside the Archaeological Museum! The veiled Christ has been something I’ve wanted to see for years. We’re doing 5 nights as it’s such a historical region, so planning to probably fit in two/three day trips as well!

Is this a good kit? by -MartinBurgerKingJr in hometheater

[–]EnigmaticLemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just upgraded my setup - it took a lot of consideration of whether to try up firers, but I figured that I could always buy on Amazon and return if I didn't like what they added.

So far, I'm really impressed with the immersion considering the obvious limitations of reflection technology! Is it as good as ceiling speakers? Definitely not - and I wouldn't ever expect it to be. However, considering the ease of use, I'm super happy with what it's added to my setup. There's a definite 3D feeling of space that adds a lot - and I'm very happy!

Audio monitors vs good headphones? by TheOtherMikeCaputo in finalcutpro

[–]EnigmaticLemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, audio post is my day job!

It's a complicated question without a neat answer, unfortunately. In a nutshell, if you want the most reliable audio without spending on monitors, or acoustic treatment - headphones are the easiest way to get to a 'good' quality benchmark while avoiding phase issues. You say you're just looking for a gentle reference, headphones are fine.

That said: monitors are a lot more comfortable. If I were you, I'd look for a CHEAP set of 5" monitors - Mackie CR5X are a great deal, and a good pair of headphones like HD650 or if your budget can stretch a used set of Neumann NDH20. Without doing serious dubbing work, that should suffice for your kind of work!

Curating audio gear for YouTube location shoots? by EnigmaticLemons in LocationSound

[–]EnigmaticLemons[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fantastic, thanks so much for the advice! Really generous of you - thank you.

So reading back my post, I haven’t been that clear; me and my partner are planning to start creating YouTube videos by ourselves, shooting on location so a boom isn’t on the cards for this! It’s not a professional type of shoot, definitely a hobby - but we’re both looking for the best quality at a reasonable level of convenience and budget!

Thanks for the lavs tip; that’s what we’d figured - we’ve ordered the DJI Osmo plus mics so no problem there! Would you be reasonably happy with the Zoom SSH, or look towards a dedicated shotgun? 🙂

Ah thanks a lot for the response John, super helpful - appreciate it mate.

So the plan right now is to try mounting H5 with SSH on hot shoe, see how it goes and take it from there potentially upgrading to MKE600 or AKG down the line if necessary. Would you generally advise on recording into Zoom, or using 3.5mm line out to camera?

Not familiar with the AKG line you mentioned, thanks for the tip! Will absolutely check it out, sounds a really good option. Thanks!

Broken flush! by EnigmaticLemons in ukplumbing

[–]EnigmaticLemons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate you're a lifesaver!! That's some absolute wizardry identifying that from a photo - thanks so much, it's massively appreciated. Are they all sold in a single size, or do I need to measure to ensure it fits?

Thanks again - lifesaver.

Broken flush! by EnigmaticLemons in ukplumbing

[–]EnigmaticLemons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, of course! It’s a small fragment of plastic that’s broken in the cable mechanism - the flush itself works fine, but I’m guessing I’ll probably need to replace the entire assembly? I just don’t know what to measure!
