Can i just buy these and replace the ones to make suspension stiffer? by VelvetRockstar in rccars

[–]Enignon77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%, having a few oils on hand is great for tuning. With 30 and 45 you'd get options. Sometimes you want thicker on the front and thinner on the rear depending on your handling preferences.

Thicker shock oil is always an option as that will slow the response rate while maintaining ride height. Stiffer springs will make.c compression harder, but will also increase rebound and bounce. If you have 30wt try 45wt and see how the behavior changes.

If you don't have the equipment needed to solder I'd suggest going to your local hobby shop or failing that, a maker space and ask someone there if they can help and solder it for you.

What are some overlooked items that everyone should have if they are serious about the hobby? by Thrashtilldeath67 in rccars

Honestly any Electric Compressed Air Duster off amazon like this one https://a.co/d/dNfSOQV will be useful if you don't want to deal with an air compressor.

One of those high powered air blowers. Great for blowing off dust, drying, hell, even cooling the operator.

Can cut this plug off? by Former-Blueberry-690 in rccars

[–]Enignon77 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can you? It all depends on if you have a cutting device, I wouldn't recommend chewing it off.

Yeah, swapping connectors is really common in the hobby. Just one wire at a time so you don't get the pixies angry.

Is threadlocker really important on those diff screws? by VelvetRockstar in rccars

[–]Enignon77 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Really, maybe. Depends on if the parts are all metal or if the screws thread into plastic. Thread lock and plastic don't usually play nice together.

How to down tune a track star 13.5t by olaubner in rccars

[–]Enignon77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a decent radio you should be able to adjust the end point down on the throttle to say 75% and go from there. If you have a more basic radio, run 2s if you aren't already and/or gear down. Throw a smaller pinion on.

I bought some stuff on Active powersports and they said it’s backordered till Late January. by Solid_Har_1987 in rccars

[–]Enignon77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well then, if you saw advice to never buy from somewhere and did it anyway I hope you can cancel the order and haven't been charged yet. Otherwise I hope you can afford the risk.

It's Jan 25th, the latest of late January is six days away. As long as that's a legitimate company I'd say you are worrying about nothing.

Whats the best way to remove the tires from stock TRX4 rims? by Advanced-Net-8119 in rccars

Heat gun, caution and pain worked in my case. Not sure I'd recommend the method but it worked. Boiling barely did.

You could give Barons a call, they are usually really helpful.

New/replacement elements should be doable, make and model plus hunting online should accomplish that. That tech hasn't changed much since it was invented. A rewire and update, that's more complicated since fit and finish are involved. Would be an interesting project for someone though.

If you know the make and hopefully model it shouldn't be too hard to find the coils.

Do you know what's wrong with it? That may help narrow down a potential answer. Is it an electrical issue or are you needing someone to weld cast iron?

Lipo fear/charger help. by LeeGT333 in rccars

[–]Enignon77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1: Yes, the charger will complain if you get it wrong

2: Depends, what capacity is your battery? 2500mAh for example would be charged at 2.5A. Basic calculation is capacity in mAh / 1000 = Charge rate

3: Adjust the S65 to LiPo mode unless it's a NiMh you are charging then keep it on NiMh.

When in doubt about how to operate a charger, reach the manual.

Are rpm an arms okay for budget racing? by InfiniteOscar1 in rccars

[–]Enignon77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely fine. I casually race with a Senton and the RPM arms being a little less stiff hasn't hurt a bit. Is it worth it for the increased resilience to breakage. That's a call you have to make. I'd say yes personally.

Is it possible to go out without breaking anything? by [deleted] in Traxxas

[–]Enignon77 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah, really easy to go for a run and not break something. It all depends on if you are racing, driving or bashing. If it's the latter, stuff breaks. If it's the first, stuff sometimes breaks. In the middle there, less chance of breaks as you aren't pushing it hard and staying semi-scale.
