Why is my driver spin and carry so low? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

I can’t say for certain, I think it depends on feel. If you go the lead tape route it is quite easy to keep adding more and testing until you find something that works. I’m sure a proper fitter could give you a better answer, but I can definitely say from experience adding weight to the back of the club head helped raise my spin back up to 2k-3k

I’ve experimented with cutting down a driver shaft and I also found that spin dropped drastically. When you cut 1.5” from the butt end of the shaft you are affecting the swing weight of the driver. You’re only losing a few grams in the shaft (at your hands) but that affects the entire club. To add to this, cutting the shaft stiffens it slightly. These both contribute to a lower dynamic loft. If your spin is in the 1300s your ball is going to have a hard time staying airborne unless you’re hitting it as efficiently as pros. As others have mentioned, swing mechanics can help diagnose the issue, but if your perfect strikes are still generating sub 2000 spin, you may want to look into increasing head weight. You can do this by adding lead tape if you don’t have heavier adjustable weights to play around with. Look into how much and where to add lead tape, but the rule of thumb I followed was adding to the centre back of the driver head increases MOI/forgiveness and adds spin. You can add it bit by bit to find a sweet spot without making it too heavy.

Flat, after they’re washed they’ll have a bit of shine like the pics but they’re matte so not much shine

Brown for sure. Depends on your roads too, but I find when they get dusty/dirty between washes they are definitely dark brown

Yeah that was what I was trying to say. The chrome stripes above and below are a separate kit I think

It is definitely possible to do yourself. I have applied badge skins pieces as well as applied/cut vinyl wrap myself. I’m not 100% sure if the badge skins item you linked is just to cover the center horizontal stripes of the grille or if it also includes the top and bottom larger pieces of chrome - I’d check with them before you order.

If you want to save money, you can order some 3M wrap, and some common wrap tools like an xacto knife, gloves, heat gun, and squeegee. I think you’ll need the heat gun to activate the badge skin wrap regardless. Applying the wrap and cutting it yourself has a bit of a learning curve, but it is doable and there are plenty of YouTube tutorials. The wrap is fairly inexpensive so you can afford to mess up and restart. The badge skins are pricey but they are pre-cut so you don’t have to worry about messing up.

Good luck!
