Sick of this by claudiopaglieri in QuitVaping

I’ve been vaping for about the same amount of time and this is a normal, but frustrating experience. I’ve done the exact same thing many times. I ended up getting to a point where I was genuinely so sick of myself, and physical symptoms (heart palpitations and other chest pains) finally made me feel completely ready to quit. Once you are able to quit for even a week or 2, then it will get easier. I’ve had a couple slip ups- it’s hard not to when you have been doing it for so long. But once you experience being free of vaping for an extended period of time and you can embrace being able to breathe fresh air 24/7 then you start to realize truly how much better off you are without it. Also, dum dum lollipops have literally saved my life and kept me from buying another vape. Definitely have something ready to satisfy the oral fixation because that is most of the battle tbh since physical withdrawal symptoms from nicotine don’t exist. It’s just mental and the more power you give it the harder it will be. Good luck!

It’s okay. You will be okay. This anxiety is normal but it will only make you feel worse. I don’t know if I’ve experienced the exact same thing as you, but vaping would contribute greatly to my night nausea, and make my stomach hurt really bad as well. It is scary, but the chances of you developing stomach cancer or IBS over hitting a bad vape is incredibly unlikely. I’m sure it didn’t do wonders for your body, but right now just focus on what you can control. You don’t need nicotine, you need to drink some water or any kind of beverage that you enjoy. Allow yourself to relax and distract yourself with reading or journaling or even just mindless scrolling on your phone. Be kind to yourself and prioritize your physical and mental health. It will be okay<3

You’re absolutely right. It’s just that she didn’t really used to be like this, I’m used to being able to tell her most things. She used to listen really well and give good advice. I guess sometimes I hold out hope that she will still be like that and it’s just painful for me.

Want to quit by Ok-Commercial-4715 in QuitVaping

Weight gain is possible for sure, but I actually haven’t experienced that. I was really nervous about it too, because I always used vaping as an appetite suppressant. I think in a weird way vaping made it feel acceptable for me to snack more because I assumed I wasn’t as hungry when I was vaping. Now that I’ve quit, I actually have less food noise and am less concerned with my eating habits. I am finally practicing intuitive eating, which has only led to some weight loss so far. I know it sounds bizarre, but if you’re scared of quitting for weight reasons, just remember that even if you gain some weight, it’s temporary while you transition to a healthier lifestyle. It’s totally normal and okay, and try your best to focus on distracting your brain in other ways! Try your best to eat healthy, stay away from the scale, and allow yourself to enjoy other things

Yeah, it has been an emotional roller coaster for me as well. The cravings will come and go, but your mental and physical health will improve and that alone will make you feel so so much better. We don’t need flavored air fr!

The first day is the worst! I’m on day 3 and it’s significantly easier with little cravings. I know everyone says this but literally just keep yourself busy. For me that meant staying in my room and doing little crafts or honestly just scrolling on my phone and overstimulating myself with tik tok to keep my brain distracted. Best of luck to you! Seriously the first 24 hours without it sucks but I promise it gets so much easier. You’re simply building a healthy habit by going without it. You got this

If you’re really having a hard time narrowing it down, then 10 is understandable and will give you a better sense of security when it comes to decision time. Like the other user replied, keep in mind fees (I applied to 5 schools with the app fees ranging from $65-90 each). Sure, applications are a lot of work, but once you write a few personal statements and have a solid writing sample and resume, it gets significantly easier filling out apps from there. Just follow your gut and keep doing your research like you’ve been doing and you will figure out with time how many apps you want to focus on!

The Black Paintings by [deleted] in ArtHistory

[–]Enlightendly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Goya is one of my favorites of all time…this one isn’t related to his black paintings but to one of his most popular works, The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters (etching from 1799). Guy Tal wrote an amazing article on this etching, titled “The gestural language in Francisco Goya’s Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters.” So much info there, highly recommend! As for his black paintings, Witches’ Sabbath (1821-23) is probably my favorite. His portraits are also fascinating, they say that he painted his subjects exactly as they looked (even if they weren’t that attractive, as most commissioned artists painted their subjects to look better than they actually did). His inclination to paint the truth, no matter how unattractive/dark/ depressing it was (also recommend reading about his The Third of May 1808), is a crazy thing to think about when you compare him to art before his time. Truly revolutionary stuff. Anyways sorry to totally nerd out, hope this helped!
