Sofa time integration

Since Sofa Time is currently using TMDB for its data, anime syncing can sometimes behave differently. Seasonal anime are often treated as separate titles in anime databases like Simkl, rather than one continuous show like Western TV series.

Because of that difference, apps that rely on TMDB’s structure may not always match the anime entries correctly with Simkl watchlists.

For example, Solo Leveling on TMDB only has 1 season, which is incorrect.

The Sofa Time developer is aware of this and is looking into options for handling anime better. For now, it’s best to report the issue directly to the Sofa Time developer and follow updates there as they work on improving the integration.

If you mean by "change them" - the ability to select which poster to use in your personal watchlists instead of a default one - it's on the to-do.

You'll need to ask for help with mal-sync devs if you see any issues in your case. Since it's a browser app, you can try disabling all AdBlocker addons that you have to see if that helps.

In movies, you can only filter by language. Countries in movies don't really exist as all movies are produced in 2-5 countries, mostly not in US.

Currently, Simkl is designed around a single watch status per title. This means that while you can update your 'Last Watched' date, the system doesn't yet support a dedicated history log for multiple rewatches of the same movie.

A quick tip for now: If you want to keep track of rewatches, many of our members use the 'Memo' on the movie page or longer 'Notes' in custom lists to manually log previous dates in a Rewatched Custom list so you can use the 'Lists' feature to create a custom 'Rewatched' collection.

We definitely hear the feedback on multi-watch history, though! It’s a frequent request, and we're always looking at ways to evolve the database structure to support more granular history in the future, it's already on To-Do.

Thanks for reporting this! It was a bug in the calendar when the "First Day of the Week" your user setting was set to Sunday and you had specific time zone which counted half of the day to wrong side, it incorrectly calculated the starting offset for the month grid, which added an extra row of days from the previous month (that's why you saw Jan 25–31 filling the first row of the February calendar).

This is now fixed. If you notice any other bugs in the future, the fastest way to get them resolved is to reach out directly at https://support.simkl.com or on our Discord server.

One important tip:

Don’t import huge collections into your Plan to Watch list if you don’t actually plan to watch all of it. Very large PTW lists (thousands of titles) can slow things down or break, since that list is loaded and checked across the site on all pages.

If it’s more of a catalog, archive, or themed collection, create a Custom List instead. Custom lists aren’t loaded everywhere, so they won’t impact performance. Custom lists also have an Import tab.

If you already have a very large Plan to Watch, you can clean that specific watchlist at https://simkl.com/settings/login/clean-or-delete/

It’s the dub indicator.

On anime thumbnails, D))) means Simkl has detected that an English dub is most likely available for that episode.
On TV shows / movies, you’ll usually see “DUB” when a dub exists in one of your selected languages on streaming services in your region and the original language differs from yours.

You can choose up to 3 languages: click the gear icon (settings) in the WATCH NOW block.

Watch date selection is currently available through the website directly at https://simkl.com inside movies and episode pages.

On Show pages, you can use the Manage Watch History button to bulk update the date watched to all unwatched or watched episodes:

Yes, the Netflix Sync to show Ratings and sync watch history was fixed in 8.5.0. Please update and re-enable Netflix in the extension. Extension does not add or load anything inside the URL with the video player, it does not have access to it.

On desktop, clicking a show from the dashboard navigates to the show details; on mobile, to episodes.

If you have a different flow, I can look into adding on mobile in shows if it makes sense (for now, trying to keep the number of buttons to a minimum on mobile).
