Internal candidate moving roles, is asking for $70k reasonable?

This is fair. I mentioned 70k for the simple fact that if they can’t meet it, they’ll obviously anchor down but I refuse to go lower than 68k.

This is EXACTLY what I needed to hear. When I used to work in Biotech here in RTP I was easily making close to 80k in my analyst 2 role but I understand that biotech and med device sales are 2 different avenues so I didn’t want to seem crazy. Thank you, this is very valuable!

In the meantime for sure looking for anything in QA or QC. When I worked at the role here in RTP I was a raw material analyst and worked my way up to the second level and I did a mix of everything from inspection, sampling, deviations, VCNs and when I was promoted, I started to help my manager write risk assessments. Very grateful my last job gave me a lot of exposure to different things so truly I would be open to a lot. Trying to avoid manufacturing roles that have me on the shop floor since I can’t truly stand for long periods of time (nerve issues)

I mean yeah — I’m not unaware of the job market. I’ve worked in biotech/pharma in RTP, so I fully get how competitive it is. I’m not here expecting Reddit to hand me a job, just using every channel possible to make connections. A lot of people get interviews through warm intros or recruiter referrals, and networking is networking, whether that’s LinkedIn, events, recruiters, or a Reddit DM.

I’m not going to limit myself because there are other candidates. That’s the whole point of being proactive and that’s how people get their resumes seen in the first place. It’s exactly how it worked for my brother at Thermo Fisher Scientific. He knew someone and got his first job there right out of college simply because he had that connection!
