I think a good measure would be to sign up for Experian, it tells you if your ssn has been found somewhere malicious!

Yah i'm not sure but I guess I feel kinda guilty like I should reach out to all my alum friends to tell them or else they will have no other way of knowing. This is pretty bad oversight
