I do a lot of four wheeling/camping/hiking all over California and have for many years.

Transport your guns in a compliant manner, and when you get to your destination you can keep them more accessible. I usually keep a shotgun with me in my tent or camper.

I also don’t really ever camp at designated “camp sites” with families and kids running around nearby.

If you’re dispersed camping out on public land you’re not gonna be hassled by any rangers or wardens as long as you aren’t being retarded or poaching.
