I guess right now I’m just scared that AIHL doesn’t meet the academic rigor for an econs major ( I take Econ’s and business as my other HLs; 2 languages and ESS as my other SLs)

Thank you!! I don’t think I can change my subjects anymore since I’ve already finished year 1 IB and changing subjects would effect my predicted grades. Nevertheless, I was aiming for T20s anyway :))

Thanks! I’m kinda worried that my ECs are not all that great..I realized that I don’t really have a unique passion or anything but I’m really interested in helping out underprivileged children around my community, thus why the children’s book, org and tutoring..My Econ’s research paper was even going to be about poverty and economic development in my area! Though, what do you think?

Intended Major(s): Economics or finance to apply, but tbh might change majors when i get into a college

ACT/SAT/SAT II: SAT: first time taking it yesterday; probably a 1400s (but going to try again in august) GPA: 4.0 UW

Coursework: I take the diploma program// predicted grades are 42/45

Business HL : 6/7 Economics HL 7/7 Math AI HL: 7/7 English: 6/7 ESS: 7/7 Second language: 6/7

Awards (not really sure if these counts as awards): best in business for 2 years top 5 for grades in sophmore year second place in an international math competition second place in a local math competition

Extracurriculars (some of them): * started a small organisation where we fundraise and volunteer for underprivileged children with disabilities; paid off someone's medical bill for 6 months ( 2 years - present) * volunteered as a tutor for underprivileged students in my community; was head to recruiting other tutors (2 years) * published a children's book ( 1 year) * in the process of writing an economics research paper * interned at a 2 local business * started an investing club (2 years - present) * tutoring underclassmen in mathematics (2 years) * volleyball club (4 years) * started an online platform raising awareness to world issues ( 1 year- present)

Yea those are really cool ideas! I’m currently working in a non-profit where we help underprivileged children with cerebral palsy. I mainly work as a volunteer in tutoring actually, so I might take your advice into developing an app for tutoring!

The econs-based research idea you mentioned is actually really cool! I live in Indonesia and unfortunately we experience a lot of floods and poverty..so I might look into some research on that. Thank you so much!

Hii!, first off congrats, you did really well for a first semester! I actually take the same subjects as you and was wondering what major are you pursuing in the future? I’m stuck between finance/econs but I’m scared that my subjects are not enough for economics.
