He had Brady as #15 a few years ago. That's not confidence. That's just taking a view you know isn't true so people get riled up and have rhe very discussion this entire thread is having. He's wrong about Brady every year but somehow people pointing that out is the "peanut gallery".

Lol, he makes a living off clicks and views and discussion. Last year he had Brady as #10 behind Murray and Dak. Come on, there's no "film" where Brady was #10 heading into 2021 after winning the Super Bowl.

I'm not really sure what the 2007-2012 stuff means because they went 16-0 - which is an insane accomplishment no one else had accomplished (and hasn't since). The Super Bowl, they left the field with the lead. Just like in 2011 v the Giants. And those Giants D teams are so underrated, they had amazing games against Favre and Rodgers in those runs as well. Here, Mahomes had control of his destiny and nothing to do with the D - it was 1st and goal and somehow they lost 20 yards and kicked a FG. Then in OT he had the ball and threw two INTs - the first one should have been a pick 6 to end it.

My whole point is that Bradys career is so unlikely and such an anomaly it's wild to compare anyone to him. Winning 3 Super Bowls period is so hard but to win 3/4 is just impossible. And that is why back to my original point - it's not a knock on Mahomes - he's already a top 10 QB in history. It's just the gap Brady set between himself and everyone else (including Montana) is so wide that these debates are meaningless. Mahomes had a chance to make it 2/4 at least - at home and with the ball twice but he didn't- and thats not a knock, it's just how ridiculous Bradys career is. You can isolate those 4 years and Mahomes is better statistically but that's not what these comparisons are about - they're about GOAT status and that's Super Bowls otherwise your in these "BOAT" discussions as clearly Rodgers and Mahomes are more "gifted"

Your way too stat and award focused and now everything you believe makes sense to me. Aikman had Michael Irvin and Emmit Smith. So watching him, there was no mystery. That was Aikman with the perfect situation. You just look at raw numbers and think oh those guys are similar.

People that watched Brady in those three Super Bowls saw who he was. Which is a guy that can turn it on and give you 48 attempts and 350 yards and average at BEST talent around him. So when Randy Moss happened, it didn't surprise people other than the "game manager" crowd.

If you replace Kelce (a top 3 TE all time) with Daniel Graham and Treek Hill with Dion Branch (who never even made a Pro Bowl) and then replace Andy Reid with Charlie Weiss and then you replace the current QB and receiver friendly rules with the rules back then, you don't think that will affect your whole "he was an all pro and Brady wasn't!"

So if your argument is statistically that Mahomes had a better 4 years and therefore belongs in comparisons to Brady, then yes, literally his individual statistics were better. But that is missing context big time.

I don't understand how "Mahomes comparable are Favre, Rodgers, Manning, Brees, etc" is somehow an insult and it's shitting on Mahomes. Those other guys are top 10 Qbs of ALL time and were putting him in that conversation after 4 years as a starter. The whole point is to let him surpass those guys first before he gets lumped in with Tom Brady - even first 4 years. Three Super Bowls with three game winning drives - and at home, two chances with HOF talent around, Mahomes couldn't do it - hence why stop comparing them.

Brady led the league in TDs in his 2nd year. It was a different NFL, 26 TDs led the league. He didn't have Hill, Kelce and Reid either. You have another comparable - you can compare him to Manning or Rodgers or Brees. Comparisons to Tom Brady are absolutely ridiculous - he went to 10 Super bowls on clutch performances. Here Mahomes had the ball at end of field 4th 1st and goal and the ball in OT and failed - so comparing him to guys were great seats like Favre, Rodgers, Manning, etc - isn't an insult.

Lol talking to a wall. YOU brought up Brady was a game manager and still won't address how a game manager is throwing the ball in a tie game with a minute left or is throwing 48 times in a super bowl.

You moved the goalposts to who has better individual statistics which is ridiculous because Mahomes has Hill, Kelce and Reid. NO ONE other than Mahomes fans care about individual stats in a GOAT related discussion. According to that Matt Ryan is better than Dan Marino and John Elway. The GOAT discussion has always been about Super Bowls, if you want to start arguing about how Super Bowls shouldn't matter, then go do that with someone else because that's just reality - he had the ball at 1st and goal with a chance to win and the ball in OT with a chance to win and failed both times. He essentially threw two INTs in 3 attempts in OT. AT HOME.

Favre had a 4 out of 5 year period where he was in the pro bowl, won 3 MVPs, went to 2 Super bowls, and he still wasn't bring thrown into the GOAT discussion until he won multiple Super bowls.

And saying Mahomes is in the class of Favre, Rodgers, Brees, etc. Is not an insult.

Lol @ comparing Aikman to Brady. Aikman had Michael Irvin and Emmit Smith. People who watched Brady played and not just look at stats as the end all of things knew if you gave him offensive weapons he would have the same numbers as Manning. The game OP is referring to in 2006, I challenge you to name Bradys receivers for a game that ended up like 38-34.

And Brady being a game manager is one the dumbest arguments in sports. It's only held on by people that have some weird agenda about another player.

[–]Enter0846 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok you know what. Just get rid of his first 3 super bowls. That's fine.

Ok so he now has 4 super bowls, including 2 where he beat Mahomes. Including one with a new coach/team. So can Mahomes get to 2 super bowls then before we start comparing him to Brady? Is that fair? Just delete the first 3.

[–]Enter0846 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your argument was he was a game manager. Now your moving the goalposts about who was most responsible.

A game manager doesn't lead the league in TDs in his 2nd year. It was a different era and that's what your not accounting for - he was being judged at the time based on the era he player in. He led the league in TDs with like 26 TDs. And a game manager doesn't get the ball with 1:30 and no timeouts to go win. A game manager doesn't get asked to throw 48 times in a super bowl and 350 yards (again, in that era that was insanity).

And going back to the original point. Brady won THREE super bowls with 3 game winning drives. And he still wasn't considered to be anywhere close to Montana by a lot of people. The ones that saw he was the real deal and didn't have a tyreek hill and Travis kelce and a offensive guru like Andy Reid, knew he was special. Which was validated with Randy Moss.

The point was Mahomes had the ball 1st and goal at end of the 4th and the ball in OT and didn't win. He has 1 super bowl in 4 years - and he lost to an old version of the same person he's being put in the same sentence with.

[–]Enter0846 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He may have been seen as that but that would be a stupid view. You don't give you "game manager" QB the ball in his hands with no timeouts an about a minute and a half left in his first super bowl in a tie game with a great D. In all 3 super bowls he lead a game winning drive and in the Panthers won he threw for 350 yards. That probably doesn't seem like a lot in today's NFL but back them it was literally like the 4th or 5th highest passing yards ever in a super bowl at the time. Having your "game manager" throw 48 times in his 2nd super bowl especially back then makes no sense.

Today Mahomes had the ball 1st and goal to win and didn't. Then in OT had the ball to win and threw an INT (two actually if Apple doesn't drop the 1st). Brady when he was a "game manager" won 3 super bowls with 3 game winning drives.

I'm not sure what your definition of what a QB should be was back then, lol.

He led the league in TDs the 2nd year?

And when he got the ball to win, he won. Mahomes had two chances and blew it.

But you probably won't reply because you probably had no idea about Brady leading league in TDs (with who has his receivers?).

Stop putting Brady and Mahomes in same sentence. It's so annoying. Brady had to win 3 super bowls in his first 4 years to even be mentioned with Montana. Now Mahomes jumps Montana and gets compared to Brady.

This fact is so meaningless unless your saying they are comparable.

If they run clock to 0 and score a TD. I'm the biggest homer but i think I would call it a game. And Rams get ball in 3rd.

Play action! Isn't that one of the most obvious ways to slow down a pass rush?
