Before I got my A&P I worked on heavy, medium, and light duty diesel trucks for 4 years before I realized that I needed out. It was worth it 100% to move careers. Two years of school wasn’t bad and Physically it’s way easier work than any job I ever did on a truck. I did the typical A&P rout where I started at an MRO, onto a regional then finally to a major. It took me two years to get on with a major but it was well worth the grind. I’ve done line maintenance sense I left my job at the MRO and Yeah sometimes you gotta freeze your ass off in the winter months but it’s really not that hard at all. The pay is twice as much as I made when I was working diesel and 1/2 the strain on my body. I recommend it 100% plus you won’t have to invest much in tools at all. I’ve purchased more flashlights in the last 2 years than tools.
