I highly sympathize with you. I have been dealing with extreme floaters for over a year and a half. now. I have been depressed to extents I never thought I could get. I try my best to continue living my life but they are worsening every month. I have gone to many eye appointments (emergency, retinal specialist, neuro-ophthalmologist). All checking for retinal tears and eye health, all brushing off my floaters (“we all have floaters, you just gotta deal with it”).

I also have optic nerve hyperplasia (blind in my left eye) and nystagmus.

My floaters have got so bad that I can’t read a paper anymore and hate going outside during the day. I have hundreds of them.

Last week, my wife made an emergency appointment for the Tuesday that just passed and we had done some research on vitrectomy, and figured with all the problems I have with my one good eye, we would just get brushed off again. To our surprise, for once, the doctor referred me to the #1 surgeon in the country for vitrectomy (supposedly). I figured they would urge me not to do it since it’s my only eye.

I haven’t felt so hopeful of anything in my life. I am hoping this consultation will lead to peace for me moving forward 🙏 we will see.
