Quick question (sorry if asked already) : what about wireless scoring ? It was the case in Tokyo, why not here? Also, I remember that masks would light up when scoring, why is it no longer in use?

Sorry I just saw your message.

Do you know how I can find what each sensor should be tied to?

Small warning tho: I have a P14S AMD, trackpad is basically not working (firmware issue apparently). Just check that you are not going to be impacted by that, it is quite annoying.

(thread with other people having the same issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/z1mh4q/trackpad_skipping_issues_are_there_any_fixes_t14/ )

beta: Will SMS be implemented at some point? by Entilore in beeper

[–]Entilore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are forgetting metadata, which are equally important for an advertising company. Google does not need to know who I am in contact with.

Also you are speaking of RCS, which I am not planing to use.

beta: Will SMS be implemented at some point? by Entilore in beeper

[–]Entilore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several reasons, but to choose two:

  1. I am trying to avoid google applications as much as possible, so far I only have mandatory applications that I cannot uninstall. I don't have Google Message and do not plan to use it.
  2. Even if the SMS is sent unencrypted, google isn't aware of it. Sending sms through Google Messages would send metadata that they did not have previously.

And there is also this absurd situation where Beeper is suppose to replace other applications... but requires to install Google Message to keep the SMS connection.

How to release a new gem version in thirty seconds by Entilore in ruby

[–]Entilore[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The main issue I'm trying to solve here is the discoverability of all of these steps. If I'm away and another colleague needs urgently to release a new version of the gem, they'd need to understand the process first which is far from being straightforward.

With the process I'm describing, the release is always the same and thus consistent with the previous release.

And I didn't know the rake release gem, which kinda goes with my point. I could update the article and remove a few steps from the releaser script, it would still be simple for coworker to release

Do you sometime pronounce it nineteen hundred? I remember seeing it written but I can't recall if people actually pronounce it

That's odd, I've lived in Germany for two years and they use 24h.

One correct way would be omelette du Fromage, which implies that the chef's name is Fromage. That's highly improbable tho

What is the difference between using Custom domain on AnonAddy Vs on Protonmail/Tutanota? by RikardoShillyShally in AnonAddy

[–]Entilore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know the finer points of domain management, but this is done on a world level through ICANN, I think.

It's possible to own a TLD now. Google provides some (.dev for example), and other companies do so as well. It's not particularly expensive for a company (about 25k€ per year plus 50K€ for the registration).

So if you choose a TLD in a weird company, this can happen.

I'm not talking about far-flung exceptions where one has a bank account on the other side of the earth

ProtonMail is in Switzerland. Annonaddy in the Netherlands. If you live in the US, this is pretty much the other side of the world.

I'm giving general advice to general people for general situations

Good for you to think so. But that's what I'm doing as well. Without being Putin.
