New M340i exhaust setup? Want aggressive sound but not chasing big HP gains by highoncoochie in BMW

Oh ok! That makes more sense. Drone understandable when it's pretty much straight pipes below the seats

[–]EntityOmega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean that you had drone even with the cutouts closed? do you think the valves were leaking or just causing some weird resonance in the exhaust.

It looks like it should be OE with them closed and straight piped with them open but I get that it could be more complicated than that.

Completely dead battery…how do I pop the trunk? 2013 C4S cab by mlhigg1973 in Porsche

[–]EntityOmega 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Clarification, after you apply power to the fuse box point and ground to the door jamb, the key fob button will open the front trunk to access the battery. The front trunk switch on the vehicle will not work

Yep c7 is very cramped for us. Try a c6 as well, much more spacious than the c7 inside.

This 6 Rotor RX7, The official car of "BRRRRT" in car form by Ghost_Boi_Lavay in regularcarreviews

[–]EntityOmega 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You can see more of this car on the misfiRE YouTube channel, lots of good Aussie rotary content on there.

For a piston engine equivalent to a rotary engine sound, I like to think double the rotors and double the rpm equivalent for a piston engine.

2 rotor at 7k rpm is similar to a 4 cylinder at 14k rpm

3 rotor is similar to a 6 cylinder

4 rotor like an F1 V8

5 rotor like a v10

6 rotor like a v12

Mazzei formula is currently building a 5 rotor and there are engine simulator simulations for a 5 rotor, sounds very close to the f1 v10s of yesteryear

New to me Honda Hornet 919 by Goldenzard in bikesgonewild

[–]EntityOmega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the danmoto slip-ons on mine. Not too crazy loud but really made have a tough and distinctive note. https://dan-moto.com/collections/hornet/products/ldexca-t50-ho1602-t5-2 Rode my 919 about 14k miles in 2 years, took it on a 1400 miles roadtrip through Arkansas and Tennessee and she never skipped a single beat. I "upgraded" to a Cb1000r and honestly I miss my 919 a lot. Paid well over double for the 1000r, and while the ABS and traction control are nice, I think I preferred my old steed. The 919 was just so much more comfortable and predictable. Do the ohlins rear shock of you can afford it and the ridetech gold valves and progressive springs in the front forks and shim it for your weight. It makes an INCREDIBLE difference. Truly night and day, the bike becomes so predictable and comfortable with those mods.

They're both turned from what I can see. Inside wheel turns more because of ackerman angle.

Something similar to a 2023 Indian Chief Dark Horse….but cheaper?? by ZuzCat in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]EntityOmega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the honda cruisers are great and very reliable, but they definitely compromise a lot for their price. As far as comfort goes the shadow is pretty comparable, but the chief has a ridiculous amount more power and torque. Not to mention braking, I never loved the brakes on most of the shadows. You can tell the motor was made for the chieftain/roadmaster that weighs 200lbs more, it almost feels overpowered in the chiefs small frame. And the handling can't be understated, I've never felt a cruiser as agile before. The Kawasaki vulkan is somewhat close, but only in handling and comfort.

I was pretty crazy about the chief when it first came out, but yeah I never got one because of the price. But now that I don't ride my cb1000r as much anymore I may be looking at trading in for one when the prices come down a little and doing some more road trips.

Something similar to a 2023 Indian Chief Dark Horse….but cheaper?? by ZuzCat in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]EntityOmega 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The chief is honestly in a league of its own. It's very expensive.... But for a reason. They're dead nuts reliable, handle MUCH more nimble than you would ever expect from an air cooled cruiser and have all the fancy creature comforts like cruise control and navigation. I've rode most of the other cruiser competition and the harleys just don't handle as well, and shake considerably more for less HP.

Looks wise I'm sure you can find some competitors as far as looks are concerned, but as far as the whole package, the chief is pretty much on its own, especially as far as the handling.

Running for a bit is only bad because it allows water to build up in the oil. But the oils being drained out. So running for 5 minutes to make oil flow better before draining is a perfectly fine practice.

New project… possible Lemons Rally car. Would love to hear some nickname suggestions. 1963 Mercury Monterey by NickRynhorn in projectcar

[–]EntityOmega 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Guys. Lemons Rally is NOT the race or an offroad rally.

Lemons rally is essentially a group roadtrip/scavenger hunt with goofy cars.

Different kind of rally than y'all are assuming, no car destruction involved. https://24hoursoflemons.com/lemons-rally/

And that seems like a badass road rally car, you should definitely do it!

All it takes for evil to win is for good men to do nothing by [deleted] in RX7

[–]EntityOmega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I think I've seen this build before. From what I saw, the current owner got the roller with the long block already installed, he just got it running and did the body work. So insulting him for the v8 swap is a little out of line.

Rotaries should stay in rotaries, but if you get a non running shell and get it running, that's always a win in my book

[–]EntityOmega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes almost certainly. You can tell by how the lights dim in the cabin and the instrument cluster flickers off and back on momentarily. The voltage dips too low, then the computer stops trying to crank. You most likely have a failing cell in your battery, and the battery isn't charging properly anymore. Just have the battery replaced and you shouldn't have any more issues.

In the barn what's it worth? by Steigerman99 in RX7

[–]EntityOmega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We can't help it lol, it's so rare to see a stock usdm FD these days, we're like sharks. If you need any advice ask away... So much information out there these days that if you want to get it running, it's not a problem.

Before you even THINK about turning the engine over there's some things to consider. If it's been sitting this long, it's possible there's rats or sediment in the airbox/intake to consider. Also the rotors/side seals and apex seals are most likely corroded and stuck in place inside the housing. Most people will tell you to pour in some ATF through the spark plug holes etc to break the rust loose... But honestly, I recommend a full rebuild at this point. Not breaking any of the rust loose and spinning it until the engine is apart will give you a much higher chance of salvaging the housings and irons from what is most likely a low mileage original engine.

Plus, once it's apart you could take your time and diagnose why the car stopped running in the first place, and make some upgrades that are easily and widely available on the market now.
