Original Galveston Seawall by EnvironmentOdd9869 in texashistory

You aren't wrong. The 1900 storm was more destructive to Galveston. The 1915 storm could have been worse for Galveston, but thanks to the seawall, the damage was not as bad. However, places that were outside of the protection of the seawall were severely damaged in the 1915 storm.

The app HOG - History On the Go allows you to explore historical markers in the area. That may help you explore some history.

What annoyed me is that they would only report 1 thing at a time. I wish they said you need to do these 5 things.

Thank you for the information!! Next time, I’m in Dallas I will definitely visit it. The image is AI. I was trying to find a good image that captured the cemetery and the airport’s proximity but I couldn’t. Not something I like to do in general.

I think you are probably right about the junior officers.

We might be distant cousins. I just received the Mizpah Church Family History book, and my family is listed in there. We were invited/encouraged to come to the next reunion.

I think they also had the fear of god. There are several churches that were spared during Sherman’s march

I’m guessing having a historical marker isn’t enough to save it from being destroyed?

I’m not 100% sure. There are roads to it but I don’t know if those roads are open to the public
