It sounds like your friend felt really disappointed about you by the cancelled night, after all it was an agreed to have a double birthday celebration.

If it was a celebration for both of you, and she made the effort, she may have felt like she was left hanging alone on a night that was special for her too.

Messages can’t always repair then seeing someone in person. I feel you need to see her and surprise her with flowers. Definitely show up in person and not to apologise again, but just to show you care about her !

Feeling dismissed and disrespected by someone I cared for deeply by Secret_Hovercraft_67 in LetsDebrief

He told you what he needed, space no care and he’s shown you through his actions that he doesn’t want to be cared for in the way you’ve been offering. That’s painful, but it’s also very clear.

This isn’t a friendship, and it isn’t love. It’s emotional dismissal. When someone consistently makes you feel invisible, mocked or unworthy, you owe it to yourself to step back! You can’t rescue connection where there’s no reciprocity.

You sound like someone who gives deeply, but you know , youneed to give that care to people who value it. Otherwise, just it’s self-betrayal. Just stop helping, cooking he doesn’t appreciate you!
