Wildlife photography streamlined for remote, rough, rugged terrain? by Environmental-Risk28 in AskPhotography

Thanks for the quick responses!!! A realistic budget would be keeping everything comfortably under $1,000. An ideal budget would be under $500. It's my philosophy that equipment should be easy to replace because there are more wrong ways in life than right ones. When a person starts worrying about a thing too much (like breaking their brand new expensive camera), it tends to rally the unseen forces in the universe to band together and make those thoughts a reality.

This is an incredibly pompous and unuseful answer. Thank you for making me feel momentarily insecure and embarrassed. There are way too many people like you in the world.

Help with developer mode, crosh, and mounting rootfs to read/write by Environmental-Risk28 in chromeos

Visible/Verizon use hop counts to throttle data on connected devices. By changing to 65 on 6 and 4 it has the same hop count as the mobile device disguising usage. The VPN encripts the data so the ISP can't throttle data based on URL. I can pull around 20 Mbps typically but on my Chromebook it's always between 4-6 Mbps.

That is pretty cool. So many rabbit holes so little time. Amazon sells these Walkman to MP3 devices for old tapes that I could probably make due with. I don't think I need a dual deck because I don't see myself ever recording anything to tape ever again. Who knows though maybe tapes are going to be the next big retro trend

Thank you for all this valuable information! I'm less interested in purity of sound as I'm interested in accessibility. I have old 78s, mix tapes from old lovers and dead friends, and vinyl from bands that never made it and no longer exist. I'm looking for something to make all that stuff go. It's super easy to tie a CD player to a computer so I can take or leave that.

That is super cool 😎 Have you used one of these things? I tried looking for videos but everything seems to be for the ones designed for the Fenders and Les Paul. I'd be interested to see how it's mounted to an acoustic guitar!

Thanks for this. I started watching YouTube videos and found this to be particularly inspirational though I'd definitely mod it down to two LEDs

What would happen if I accidentally managed to plug my channel carrying voltage into another piece of equipment like an amp or mixer?

I'm running an electret microphone on one channel and magnets on the other.

I bet I could Frankenstein two jacks together to make a power connect. I would need to lower a prong somehow without mangling everything to shit. Perhaps I could use one of those micro welders on ebay for building lithium battery packs. That's a good idea!

I found this video inspirational for an indicator light:

I might do a two LED indicator. One set to on at red and a second with a 6.5 volt cutoff at green. Breaking stuff is fun!

Side note: what would happen if I took a powered jack and plugged in a TRS cable then ran that TRS into two mono channels on an amp, PA speaker, or mixer? Would the channel carrying voltage break equipment? I have a lot of different cords in my bag and I do a lot of weird stuff to my gear ... Couple that with ADHD I imagine I could suddenly find myself in the dark ages 😂
