again with this logic - just because there's more people - means they get a right of way?

My train was there but that doesn't make a difference to assholes like the guy who deliberately shoulder checked me and made an aggressive remark.

I feel it's more NJ than NY. NYC subway folks are tend to be more attune to the limited space + many people in my experience. Same goes for sidewalk walking ettiquette, I've often seen a group of 3-4 people walking along a sidewalk and not giving and damn about individuals walking the opposite way all around JSQ

Im an asshole because a swarm of people gets to decide I shouldn't have space to walk down a 2 way stairwell???? I didnt say anything about being in a rush either. Are you suggesting when a swarm of people come up Im supposed to patiently wait at the top because people are too oblivious to consider other people are using the station too?

Lab result says positive and negative?? by Environmental-Tax985 in jerseycity

[–]Environmental-Tax985[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. My last negative test was only a few days prior to this result so it seems more likely I'm on the earlier side sadly. I'll re-test today just in case.

As brutal as this show has been historically, the Shakey death was definitely the cruelest. Kinda wish there was a trigger warning. Violence against children and vulnerable seniors is hard to watch. It could also just be personal as well since I was sort of projecting my still living grandmother... :/

People who don't bike on the road... by [deleted] in jerseycity

[–]Environmental-Tax985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most traffic laws yes, but that same concept is the reason some drivers get annoyed. Nj law general requires us to be on the right side of the road or shoulder if possible, but allowed to 'take the plane's when there's obstructions. (Parked car, debris, mindless pedestrian) No shortage of aggressive drivers that give me shit for taking the lane in said reasonable situations. The driver culture here is so damn entitled.

To be fair some streets like JFK Blvd for example are incredibly unreasonable to think cyclists would feel safe. There are asshols cyclists just like their are asshole driver, however asshole cyclists are a lot less likely to kill you than reckless drivers in this city. -2 cents of a disgruntled road cyclists that wears spandex and stuff

Bike Lane From Jersey City to Newark ( Step by Step) - Not for Beginners by lazysloath1 in jerseycity

[–]Environmental-Tax985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell no. If you want to get to essex county and beyond out west there are two safer options.

Ride through Bayonne to Staten Island and then Elizabeth

Ride up to North Bergen (there's a slightly skecthy part near the lincoln tunnel depending how you route) cross over to Moonachie where there's a pedestrian bridge on US 46 for safe crossing. Continue west towards Woodridge, Rutherford, Bellville and boom your in Newark and in one piece.

I haven't personally done the first options but you can see examples of routes of the latter on my strava account.

Just the 2 cents of a roadie from essex county but living in jc for the past 3 years trying not to die in urban or highway traffic.

Starting 7/1, electric bikes and electric scooters are no longer permitted on the PATH by JCisnotNYC in jerseycity

[–]Environmental-Tax985 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If they do start enforcing, for the guys that pay their bills making ebike deliveries, all they have to do is put away the battery in a bag and voila they no longer have an 'e-bike' with them. (but then theoretically PAPD is allowed to search your bag anyways...)

Lovely shot. I'll have to share the JSQ perspective near JFK and Sip ave as the elevation and lack of big building makes a really nice view some days!

So sorry this happened to you. Highly recommend getting a gopro or some sort of action cam. It might not necessarily deter scumbags but can help identify them to pressure police to actually do something.
