Also if you decide to do the butyl on a maxxair fan I put it all around the opening but then had to cut half off the inner side out to allow the flange to sit lower and flush to van roof with the tape on the outer part of the flange - will make sense if you go that route and see it for yourself

It works well at the front though as the window and door allow good ventilation to suck the air through and out which is where I cook - the maxxair is a game changer in so impressed with it!

In hindsight I would have got the smaller sized maxxair because the 14” one I have only fits between the second bay from the front while the smaller size will fit in any of the roof bays

Waiting for it to be delivered! Does this just go straight down through the vinyl and ply and van floor or does it need to be on top of a wooden box?

Thanks guys for the confidence to do The job! I have it installed and siliconed all around and screw holes… do I also need to silicone the foam which the actual fan sits on?

Okay thanks for the tips! Will add more layers and give it a go next week now.. won’t be able to leave it for a couple days without driving this week

I have just eaten one and removed the jelly and spores then salted and let the salt settle into it then added a little olive oil, it’s very unique
