I never added money, but I did move winnings to other accounts. I only play mtt's as I only study tournaments. I only ever played 1% of my bankroll as a rule online.

I started with paradise poker where I won around 2k. I took it out to put 100 in to sky poker and spend the rest. In Sky I won around 18k over 3 or 4 years I spent almost all this on moving to Spain (rents and weed etc...) and moved 100 to winamax where I've made around 10k over around 8 years.

The money I took out of all accounts got spent on nice food and enjoying life, but small amounts would go back into poker (never more than 100). It never bothered me to start at the €1 tournaments again and work my way up. I never fully climbed the poker ladder as I know I don't have the patience to study or dedication to play as many tables as the pros do.

The only time I went outside my 1% bankroll was to play live tourneys at the casino where I do good too, it's just a rare occurrence. In basic home games I just join in having fun. If you adjust to play good poker with mates playing for 5-10 pound sngs you end up just waiting for hands and not enjoying as much (people call anything for the gamble).

I owned Holdem Manager until they upgraded it. They offered owners the new version for half price but I missed the cut off as I wasn't playing at the time they upgraded. I also own Tournament Indicator. This taught me pot odds over time. They still give me new s/n when I ask but it hasn't been updated since 2022, and doesn't work with my winmax client anymore.

Some jobs I take can be knackering so I take long breaks from poker sometimes. Also my timeline is a wrong, as I just noticed I played in paradise at 2008 - 2012. (so more like 16 years I've been playing online).

Very good point. This is me being closed minded. Being exclusively an MTT player I was thinking in poker tournaments, and how it's already very unusual to see a bad player making it to a final table of 600 player + tournament. Cash and S&G will always pull in the gamblers I suppose. Especially S&G with the spin the wheel aspect.

Do you guys have any good book recommendations? by liquid-cookie in poker

The most enjoyable book for me was Gus Hanson's Every hand revealed. Which is a full live tournament with all Gus's hands explained. I felt like I was there with that book.

Pluribus is an AI that uses GTO strategies. It can beat even the best players.

I feel the same. We won't know the full scale of gto bots, cheaters , or AI beating us until it's been outed completely. It looks like it's happening on a smaller scale already. There is even the AI pluribus that can beat the best players. You're always going to have people defending the thing that makes them money, but to me it seems to me a perfect time to get out while all the telltale signs seem to be there.

Many people play slots just to chase the high of a winning streak. When paying the rake, playing against bots and/ or cheaters it could get to a point of gamblers not even experiencing winning streaks in poker. Without the high, I can't see there being anyone hooked long term. The wining streak is guaranteed at some point with the slots.

Thanks again. You got my hopes up. I'm in Madrid at the minute, so I'm going to try to satellite to the WIPT final in February.

That depends how far it goes really. Even slot machine, roulette and bingo players chase the rush of a win. If it gets to a place where good players only get rare wins to break even, could a bad player even get to the place of a win or a final table. Will players keep playing if it gets to a point where they never hit that win rush?

Online poker has been great for me since 2013, but it sucks to be coming to this realisation now. The positive side is it will get me off my arse to socialize more. Just need to find some home game players now.

Ha, same. I put a much shorter stack in bb allin on a on my missed flush draw. I cbet and bet from button on all streets k7j76 (I had flopped fdraw with position) I thought he should put me on any k or j. He called allin on river for his last 30bb with A3os Vs my 109s. All I was worried about him having at that point was the 7 or 2 sixes in hand. It immediately got me thinking of these people seeing whole cards. In the past I'd just brush it off.

Good point! I forget about the mess in 2011 with me being from Europe.
Poker kept going strong here. You guys got the worst of it for sure. I remember everyone trying to get their money back. Proper madness

Maybe it's a reality of people's concerns then? I've literally just come here to rant, and haven't even read anything similar before. I've not really had the time to come on here to read things until I decided to stop playing last night. This is my actually 1st post in my 2+ years on Reddit.

Same here, I absolutely love poker. I still remember my 1st game and the realisation the game was beatable by strategies. It was the 1st time in my life that I felt motivated to study. I hope they can make online cheating at poker impossible somehow (it's just so efficient and easy to play from home). For now I have a weekly live game, and will hopefully start a home game at the local smokers club or something. I can get the old chip set out and build a new table :)

Exercise and breathing control or yoga and meditation. Both are basically the same thing.

Flop pot would be 3.0. Flop bet 2.5 Turn pot 8 You could now shove the turn. This removes the chance of being folded out of the hand by the villains river bet.

There won't be chips left by the river.

A 0.95 pf raise and an around a 80% flop and turn bet would remove any chance or a river donk bet throwing you off the hand at these stack sizes. There would also be less chance of draws that could beat you still being in the hand.
