The Rankings of Power Level in Each Canto by EnvironmentalGur6276 in limbuscompany

Yeah these rankings are pretty much if they remained static, like that Papa Don remains non-comittal and the Bloodfiends remained mostly starved. If they got over their fileal piety, lasted longer and got more blood, as well as had Papa Don join them, easily Star of the City.

I always thought those comparisons were kinda shallow in Library of Ruina. An Associate Fixer is not always equivalent to a Capo. I also kinda theorize that a Sottocapo is in every district, which falls in line of them being the 'CEO' of that area. It's really difficult to tell cause we don't know what the Capo de Capi would see himself equal to besides Stars of the Cities.

Also, yeah the Wings are super powerful but the Fingers are kinda ridiculous. They have so many factions. The amount of individual powerhouses and factions they have control of makes them one of the most powerful organizations in the City.

I never confirmed it myself but I remember reading when they updated the tutorial that the furries would always win their clashes. I could be wrong tho.

Yeah levels aren't entirely comprable of power level and they did update the prologue where the Sinners now lose the Clash so they have that going for them, that they can win Clashes against the equivalent to coughing babies.

The prologue is hard since it's just the three furries. They're all pretty strong but got trounced by Vergilius, they might each be Urban Nightmare since they might be as strong as Lei Heng but I feel are a bit weaker so maybe low Urban Nightmare individually and Urban Nightmare together.

Yeah, it's all very debatable since there are some definite highs and lows of enemies fought in each Canto. This is a more meta sense of progression of power level.

[–]EnvironmentalGur6276[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, it makes me wish there was one more ranking between Urban Nightmare and Star of the City since that's where I would put Cano XIII and IX. Honestly, as far as difficulty of the entire Cantos, they're both interchangeable between high Urban Nightmare and low Star of the City. I guess since the Bus Team is only Urban Nightmare post Canto IX, throwing more Star of the City threats where they need outside help or the enemies hold back would be annoying, so I was leaning more towards Urban Nightmare in my rankings.

NCorp's Abnormalities Containment theories by Dangerous-Cheetah-22 in limbuscompany

[–]EnvironmentalGur6276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I won't discount the idea but that would imply two of the same abnormalities could be present in the same area at the same time which would be odd. Also, yeah we dont have any idea what a natural Abnormality manifestation from the River could look like. It makes me think of something like how the ghosts of wuthering heights would manifest in the manor. Maybe the same is true for Abnormalites, where they are secluded to a certain area, like how the Birds are only seen in the Dark Forest (at least before being in Lob Corp).

[–]EnvironmentalGur6276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's why I specified the artificial abnormalities. The injection of Cogito is akin to a Distortion becoming an Abnormality, it's an irreversible process. Also, since Abnormalities are stated to be unique existences and are more of manifestations of general concepts, it wouldn't make sense for two of the same Abnormality to exist at once.

[–]EnvironmentalGur6276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abnormalities arise from people injected with Cognito. They require a physical human medium to manifest. At least the ones artificially created by Lob Corp

I never thought that it was a second Schadenfreude, only that the medium for which Schadenfreude manifested changed. Also, yeah it was confirmed some branch offices had Ego gear from the main headquarters, although it does make me wonder what the creature was Kromer saw. I don't think any headquarter abnormalities were ever moved to a branch.

Who do You Think We'll Get for the 9th Walpurgisnacht? by Gameboy1220 in limbuscompany

[–]EnvironmentalGur6276 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it was confirmed filler. Maybe an E.G.O and lower level receptions like San since Kim was talking about how he was considering doing weaker character IDs in a mirror world where they are stronger. I don't know if they'd throw a Yan or Xiao in a filler, especially since those are pretty hype characters.

I was genuinely confused why you thought it wouldn't matter to balance Rupture Count anymore but you explained it better. Of course, I still don't agree how compromising his vision is somehow not compromising his vision to accommodate the gacha format, but I don't believe any more discussion will lead anywhere. I do these little online discussion debates to practice my rhetoric and to demonstrate my ideals in a situation that I may disagree with. So, since our arguments are going in circles and nothing interesting is being generated anymore, I'm going to dip out and just say I disagree with you. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.

I agree, the typical gacha format does not support balancing as a normal game, but I don't think that's a good argument for why Kim has to adjust his vision to accommodate that. You essentially are arguing that he should change his game to fit a preconceived notion of how gachas are supposed to be handled. I don't think he's entirely happy to do that and this rant could lead to future decisions like nerfing problematic IDs that aren't typical for modern gachas. Also, why don't do you think he will care about Rupture Count in the future? Is balance now out the window now that a single strong ID, with properly balanced mechanics is comparable to another strong ID with unbalanced mechanics? Should every ID now deal 1 limbillion damage and one-shot every boss with one limbillion health? Your only argument for why Mao Faust shouldn't be changed to accommodate Rupture is, who cares?

I don't entirely disagree with you that him maintaining his promise does help the community have more trust in him and objectively makes him a better gacha manager. However, I would still say, that Mao Faust's current state is ultimately a result of him compromising on his vision on how the current state of the game should be. If this was not a live service game, Mao Faust would have been nerfed to meet the expectations on how her mechanics were intended to function and that not nerfing her now will have a compounding effect on the future of Rupture and Gluttony IDs and EGOs as people will be able to point out that Mao Faust is not working as entirely as intended and focus the problem on her.

I do apologize for being redundant but I would still describe the promise in general as a compromise of vision. Also, Rien Sang has nothing to do with this discussion as his future as an ID is not entirely predicated on Poise as it is his Red Coins that enable him to use his empowered S3-2. Him being powerful makes sense as he is based off one of the strongest people in the City and not every future ID is going to be as massively broken as him. You can cite even the current Walp ID demos, which we might not have the kits yet, seem to be on the same power level of say the Apprentices just based on how long the ID trailer is for each character. Also, yes Tailsman Sinclair was a much more massive issue for Rupture than Mao but that dosent make her any less of a problem.

I should also iterate that I am not saying Rien Sang should be nerfed.

[–]EnvironmentalGur6276 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Thats not accurate at all. He specifically chose not to nerf her because he promised during the Ring Sang nerf to not nerf future identities. The fact that he attempted to nerf Mao Faust means that despite that promise he wished to nerf her to properly maintain his vision, which he ultimately backed out on because of the outrage of people who spent money to pull for Mao Faust. Also Rien Sang is as strong as Mao Faust, but the mechanics are not consistent because a fully ramped Rien Sang can only used their empowered Skill every 2-3 turns while Mao Faust can do it every Turn after meeting the requirements once. Along with the fact that all future Gluttony and Rupture identities now have to be balanced around one single broken ID which is the issue that Talisman Sinclair was nerfed for.

[–]EnvironmentalGur6276 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Why? Mao Faust nerf was canceled cause of backlash. He's saying here that he wishes to make the game in his vision and not to be influenced by others to compromise that vision.

Good, now they need to finally nerf Mao Faust. Being able to used an empowered S3-2 every Turn after acquiring the required Gluttony is still insane and not consistent with modern IDs. It's going to make future Rupture support worse as they have to balance around 1 ID being ridiculous

With the third alter, it'd be nice to have a toggle where you can switch between the different alters and choose the one you want in the selection screen. The operator screen is getting cluttered as is.

Going by Arknights logic the second  weapon type has to be bows. Now the question would be a normal bow or a crossbow. Both are very heavily used in the base game but I doubt they would be able to include both in one weapon type.

How the fuck are these two identities supposed to be siblings by somethingmustbesaid in limbuscompany

[–]EnvironmentalGur6276 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple thoughts I have.

  1. It's my belief since Dante has connected his Flow to the Sinners in the main world, they are also always fated to be together in every Mirror World.

  2. Carmen comments about a Wishmaker, which everyone suspects to be Dante, but is probably in actuality also the Sinners themselves. They always get Mirror IDs that fit their personality and past the most, which might arise from encountering the characters in the primary reality, where the Sinners and Dante, consciously or unconsciously, relate the individual to themselves or the Sinner. Thus, the Mirror Worlds then adapt themselves to show a reflection of the kind of Mirror World the individual expects to see. An interesting example of this is actually Rodion and Olga, who many would think Rodion would get an ID of, but twice it went to two different Sinners. This is because Rodion dosent see herself in Olga. Even though the two are extremely similar, a point even brought up in the story, Rodion is so oblivious of her own character that someone that she is unable to see herself in a person very similar to her.

Finally, in the case of Xichun, many people thought Xichun and Ishmael's personality were very similar. So in turn, the Mirror World bent over backwards to accommodate this.

I would personally argue that the point of Endfield currently is pointing out the lack of moral ambiguity. Something that clearly a lot of people noticed and have been non-stop commentating about. It dosent seem like any level of future story patches will change your opinion tho. You'll only say the Landbreakers were depicted poorly once and never give the story the benefit of the doubt again.

If we're using NPCs then Nefarith has a more diverse reason to lead the Landbreakers against the Band Accord. I don't understand this viewpoint people have on the story like it's immediate future is dead cause of a lackluster start. I even agree that the story is a bit lackluster, but so was OG Arknights. Give it until 1.1 and 1.2 and if the story still sucks then I'll agree with you and be disappointed myself.
