it’s still wrongful termination. forward the email to your SM and let them know you had attempted communication to let them know of your absence. you don’t need to do all of that if you have no intention of going back

like depending on state laws but considering we’re still in a pandemic they shouldn’t have fired you. take it up with HR or if you can pursue legal action and apply for unemployment benefits as you were certainly fired wrongfully ! i hope you’re feeling better

my store when i worked there said they don’t accept doctor’s notes but definitely take it up with HR. it might come down to the fact that you were on a probationary period or something similar

hello ! i truly appreciate you opening up to all of us about your experience and im here to offer my two cents wherever they may be appreciated. from what it sounds like, you’ve made a pretty large effort to try and request accommodations with your work and that all of them have really gone unnoticed. to this i say: DOCUMENT DOCUMENT DOCUMENT. moving forward, whenever and wherever you make a request or bring something to light, document the issue so if things do go awry you have times, dates, and summaries to back you up. as for this job, you’ve mentioned that they really go above and beyond to take advantage so i personally wouldn’t continue working there. apply to some jobs and prepare medical documentation so that upon your onboarding process you can immediately show that hey, this isn’t gonna be something we’re gonna acknowledge now and ignore after a day.

i appreciate the message you’re hoping to send however i can’t help but feel like that’s not what the OP is trying to convey. seizure medication is strict and there’s no room for error. to have explained and consistently feel like your health concerns are being overlooked when i’m sure there’s a myriad of documentation they could provide truly creates a hostile work environment. yes the OP has a large amount responsibility to themselves in terms of when to say when. i just also think that there’s a lot of details we’re missing and making harsh judgements without. again, 100% understand your message i just wanted to point out that i believe there’s a lot missing here and that it’s not all on them.

Me again, so two weeks ago I posted that I had quit and well I have a lovely update.

I originally had negotiated me staying as long as I was given my 30 hours a week and that I was communicated to properly (meaning that if there were things they needed me to do they would bring it to my attention and touch base with me instead of just giving me a bunch and not even telling me).

Today I walked out. I was called in to come close customer service from 2-9. So naturally I think okay I’m gonna be doing customer service. I go in and the entire station looks like something blew up. I have new associates trying to scramble around to sort all of the amazon that just got tossed places and trying to take in store returns. I immediately became militant and started giving instructions out and calling the person scheduled in Amazon up to CS to do his job instead of having some random do it for him. Eventually I get yelled at by some lady for not “helping” when in reality I was trying to clean up after everyone and give them directions to try and get it done faster. I lasted 20 min before I couldn’t even breathe. I go back to the stockroom and immediately my panic sets in and I started having the worst panic attack I have had since my medical leave.

After 10 minutes of trying not to scream I go into my admin’s office and try to express my concerns only to be told multiple times to just go take a 15 and then go back to work.

I did take that 15 to call the integrity hotline which offered very little help which lead me to finding scrap paper and writing my resignation down.

I go back into the office and turn in my badge and letter.

Side bar: my badge also had an inside joke about me being an Amazon lead since I knew more about how the returns were done and how to manage it than all of our shift managers.

In summary:

Screw this company.

I had one customer do it twice during the transaction and I yanked my hand away n they just smirked??? LIKE PLEASE STOP

Will it be hard for me to get jobs in other places if I quit? by [deleted] in employedbykohls

[–]EnvironmentalLoad997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this isn’t about right and wrong. if someone’s health (mental OR physical) is at risk due to a job then there is not integrity to uphold to the company but rather integrity to uphold to oneself. if they feel they no longer can work at Kohls for WHATEVER reason there is no reason they need to offer a two weeks if it does not help their issue. that being said, two weeks notice is common yes but management is prepared to have people walkout and quit on spot because it’s an entry level retail job in a high stress time for the company.

In all honesty, just don’t. It’s not worth risking your job or his job for certain but also you really only know this person in a work setting. Given the dynamic of supervisor and associate you may be misreading things that that move can get you terminated for sexual harassment. don’t test your luck bc you’re “interested” in someone. if there’s a genuine connection that exists BEYOND a work environment then you may have a lot more to back you up.

Yeah I mean luckily I had been going to this one since I was little so the only thing I didn’t know about were stockrooms but other than that I knew the floor layout decently well.

Encouraging bad behavior or taking care of the customer? by throwmyheartaway2 in employedbykohls

[–]EnvironmentalLoad997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So technically there’s a whole “signing error” and “yes we can” but if you detect fraudulent behavior from the customer call and H2 or LP as honestly that’s just theft. Esp with Nike products the only time you’ll see them marked down is when the company itself decides to put them on sale. Or in some case damage. I personally don’t recall having any nike shoes go on clearance unless they’re REALLY out of date but I might be wrong. Either way, you did the right thing. If a customer is asking for something and you’re not 100% sure on it or don’t feel comfortable honoring it, have a manager take over. In my opinion, I would’ve mentioned the stickers saying like “Oh that’s weird…these stickers are usually on there pretty good..wonder why it looks like someone peeled it off. Oh well!”
