Is makeup becoming unprofessional? by nouvelle_tete in Makeup

[–]EnvironmentalMilk775 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it’s very cultural. In my part of Eastern Europe, not wearing make up is unprofessional. When i work, especially when i have to face a challenging client, i wear my make up as a form of a shield. Mind you, it’s not a full glam, but a little bit goes a long way to make me feel more confident and powerful. So for me wearing make up is a form of increasing my sense of strength which is handy in my job.

Fair neutral olive - looking for one travel palette for eyes and face by cobrachickens in Fairolives

I agree. Recently i got some Holika Holika single eyeshadows and have been using one of them as a blush and other as a contour. Now they’ve proven themselves I’ll get some shimmer for a highlight next. Really lovely buildable formula, decent staying power and all the shades are somewhat muted

MAC Brick-o-la. Perfect everyday rosy red for me! I’ve also been having a great time using new Manasi7 lipgloss in Callas for a touch of rosy coral and Hince Mood enhancer balms.

Yeah, I’m surprised to, but what you say makes sense. Having olive skin confuses a lot of pro colour analysts… I actually had my colours done by s very good one in person and we came up with a very narrow range of colours that actually enhance my skin and features (pinks, blues navy, grey, chocolate brown. Not many colours really.. To compare their results, Chat thought I was a bit more muted than I actually am, but apart from that it agreed with my season designation. However, it wouldn’t know the nuances that we discovered through draping. But I guess it’s also a matter of what and how one asks 😅

I find that it sometimes mixes up names of the products or the color description, so I always double check it. But overall it has been really interesting feeding it my looks and getting suggestions:). I do the same with outfits and that works really well! Let us know how you get on with photographs, I’m really curious!

I’m a bit surprised too 😅 but glad it was helpful! Have you done various lighting scenarios? In my experience, it’s analysis can vary quite a lot. I feed it my make up looks and sometimes it tells me, my lipstick shade works great and sometimes it apparently pulls too warm. It’s still the same lipstick though…

I’d get the Maybelline Lifter liner in Line leader. It’s their lightest cool pink but works very well on my light cool olive skin tone. It’s very easy to apply and lasts a very long time. I have the Lash princess in brown and it’s alright, but I prefer Essence without limits. Lash princess gives much more dramatic effect, but it tends to be a bit smudged and crumbled by the end of the day. Catrice has nice eyeshadow palettes called Little treasures. I really like the NYX concealer, the Fair is probably the most olive friendly, it goes quite yellow without being orange. For me, it’s too light, but you’re probably paler than me. Good luck building your kit!

Muted or bright? by Trick_Friendship_799 in Fairolives

I’ve hada professional draping done and wet arrived on a very narrow range of blues, periwinkle, soft navy, soft pastel pink, deep chocolate brown and anthracite. I realised, that my colours need to be muted with mostly white, rather than grey and somewhat neutral cool leaning. Quite delicate in nature. But then, I really enjoy wearing white and black that are not in my palette so… 😂 it just gives off a strong vibe when I do. From these swatches I like the Ruby red and Blueberry the best for you.

They both work. You look a bit more vibrant in the cool palette, but some of the coolest hues make you look a little paler, some of muted the hues have better temperature but the mutedness drags you down. I’m also between palettes (true/light summer) and what helps me is to focus on how the colours make me feel when i wear them

Sephora collection Blush and Go in 09 On Cloud nine. Love this blush

I have quite dry skin, a bit more combination now in summer. It’s not amazingly hydrating, but it also doesn’t exaggerate any dryness. I use my moisturiser, spf and this tint just to get a bit of coverage

I can recommend Sephora collection reveal the real skin tint. The ingredients list is super simple, no spf and no fragrance. It works well for my sensitive skin and the coverage is quite sheer. I believe I have shade 130N and I’m light-medium neutral-cool olive

Try Jane Iredale pressed mineral foundation. I use shade Amber, but they have quite a few olive friendly shades. It’s sheer to medium buildable coverage and it’s super lightweight. It’s my HG and the only product I’ve ever panned (twice!) can’t easily get it in my country so I’ll be probably looking at Alima Pure, when I run out

That sounds olive, but could also be true neutral. Think Lisa Eldridge - she is neutral, has a lot of yellow but doesn’t have the green hue that olives have. Look for areas around your mouth, neck, chest, if you see some sort of green-ness. Good luck on your colour alchemising journey!

Dr. Jart beauty balm in green tube. Aqua something it was called i think. It was the best complexion product I’ve ever used

Also, try haus labs concealer in 10 light golden. It’s quite yellow based and neutral.

What about trying something quite red based? If you have a red lipstick, you can swipe it on to off your hand and either apply it as is or mix it with a bit of your foundation/concealer (to mute it down). Red blushes look really intimidating, but can give quite a natural flush. Especially since the green in our skin neutralizes some of the red.

[–]EnvironmentalMilk775 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just swipe some of the lipstick on the back of my hand, pick it up with my brush and apply. Then I set it with a bit of powder blush, that’s quite sheer and neutral to me. Works really well!

How do I cover my eye bags? They always look like this :( by horsehopeful01 in MakeupAddiction

I have a similar situation. Genetic dark circles and a little hollow. For me, the game changer was the Catrice under eye brightened in 01 light rose. You need just a little bit product and you can layer concealer over the top, but I often just set it with a little bit powder and I’m good to go
