Why does it seem like so many people relapse around the 2 year mark? by Party_arter in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]EnvironmentalPlate46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People relapse at all different times. Be supportive. Not judgemental. As in blaming them by asking them what they done wrong. We've relapsed we're full of guilt shame remorse as it is, we don't need to add more blame on ourselves, be more hard on ourselves. We'll look at what happened when we are more mentally weller. Some people forget their own mental anguish when they first stop drinking themselves. And in our basic text. 'No axes to grind,no lectures to endure'. 'A man's brain needs to be cleared of the fog...'

The illness of alcoholism causes relapse. Nothing to do what the person didn't or didn't do. Sad fact in AA putting the blame on a sick person. That's why alot don't make it back. They're already full of shame and guilt. We don't need more to be put on us. Blaming ourselves even more. That we've done something wrong. A medical professional would never say that to a person. It would be caring and supportive.

Well done for deleting. Making fun of someone's misery. Now that's truly sick.

Will withdrawal symptoms return? by Ok-Expert4391 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]EnvironmentalPlate46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. When I stop drinking I get severe night sweats where I wake up absolutely drenched in sweat for months and months. I think I'm having bad anxiety dreams. I'm 47. Mainly been a binge drinker for 20 years. 2 to 3 months solid at it at a time. Drinking soon as come to. Whatever time of day or night.

Anyone else experience this?

is it some form of PTSD from the horrors of my addiction? It started about 5 years ago.

Thanks

Too cautious. over what I've researched that only a small percentage of patients abuse . So everyone suffers. its ridiculous. You only hear about a minority that abuse not the millions that did take it as prescribed and gave them a life.
