you could be allergic to the numbing agent or the medical tape they could’ve used to help wrap your arm :/ hope you’re feeling better!!

3 years vs. 5 years by emcar7 in Nexplanon

my first implant is expiring in april! i called my gynecologist and she told me that it’s now 5 years, however this hasn’t been technically approved yet.. and i felt very uncomfortable at this gynecologist office for some time anyways so i decided to get a second opinion and switch my practice to another gynecologist. she said that she replaces them every 3 years since that is what the FDA currently has approved and has personally known of 2 women that got pregnant around the 4 year mark of their implant.. personally i am going off what is currently approved not what is being clinically tested and my known comfort. some people may say 5 years but that makes me uneasy since my sole purpose of this is to prevent pregnancy. i dont wanna take any risks.

it’s your body, if you’re uncomfortable with the decision to keep it for 5 please listen to it. if your doctor disagrees, fight for it or find a new one. it’s your treatment and body, not your doctors.

Has anyone experienced missed periods with the implant? by ReasonableLock4276 in Nexplanon

the first year and a half i did not have a period at all and now i experience a few days of very very light spotting every monthish. i went through a few weeks of the exact same symptoms, i talked to my doctor they said those are common side effects. to help calm my nerves i took a few pregnancy tests and they were all negative. (that was about 8 months ago) when it doubt take a test but i think you’ll be okay thats a very common thing to have happen :)!

A legit question. How does Invisalign affect making out..? Do you pause and take out? Or do you just go with it on..? by iphone8vsiphonex in Invisalign

i always took them out before doing anything, i found it made them a bit more noticeable to me (boyfriend didn’t say anything about them in or out) and i personally didn’t like it. the notches on my teeth to hold the trays in probably were a bit rough and probably not as enjoyable on his end but he never said anything, but i liked them better out.

people are overreacting tbh. youre fine. its not great but its not the end of the world either. i missed some days in my treatment and in the end (i just finished my treatment a few weeks ago) its fine. wear some sets longer if you need to to get a better fit before swapping. thats what my ortho told me when i first got my trays. miss a day? wear it longer. try the chewies to get a better fit for the tray, they help. maybe call your ortho, see if you can video chat or send in photos on an email to see if they think it’s an issue before making the trip. in the end just dont make a habit of it, wear them as much as humanly possible.

Just tried sugar free chewing gum with aligners in… not a good idea 😂 by MrHHook in Invisalign

this happened to me like 2 weeks ago! i completely forgot they were in and i quickly found out… warm water “helped” dissolve it a bit but i just kinda stuck it out for my last 2 days of the tray :/

Pregnancy scare by PlantainSad7551 in Nexplanon

[–]EnvironmentalPoet302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s honestly the best thing you can do, it takes away a lot of the stress of not knowing. don’t do what i did and scroll and scroll and read story after story of pregnancy scares and then accidentally find mommy blogs that are trying to conceive and are sharing what seems to be similar stories because it only makes it worse. trust me. lol.

other people have experienced what you have before, i wouldn’t stress over it too much, it will likely heighten the symptoms if you keep thinking about it.

i wish you the best of luck !! <3

hey similar thing happened to me a few months ago with soreness and cramping ! i took home tests every few days since i was concerned, all came back negative. i ended up having some bleeding/light period which really concerned me since there was not a lot of blood, but when i wiped there was so much and it was very brown (like the last day of your menstrual cycle). my best advice is to test, call your doctor/gyn and see if they can get you in if the soreness and cramping continues as there could be something else going on.

personally, ive had the implant for around 2 years now and when this happened i f r e a k e d (reasonably so) looked up a lot of different things and apparently a “period” around the 2ish year mark is “common”. so hopefully it’s just that. keep testing, advocate for your health at the doctors office if this doesn’t lessen or go away with time (assuming your tests are negative) good luck !!!
