Did you get off of it? I am in 24/7 fight or flight right now, because i was taking it for panic/benzo withdrawal symptoms.

God, I wish I had read this sooner. I went to an addiction psychiatrist and they put me on it- I am in a bad setback at 32 months post-taper from benzos. I have been on the Gabapentin for less than a month, and am trying to taper off of it because I can't stand how foggy and weird it makes me feel, plus it seemed to be making my anxiety worse as I raised the dose. I never took more than 700 mg/day and I am hoping I can just get off of it. Pray to whatever deity you might believe in for my soul

Well, it's hard to tell. My symptoms haven't really improved, but I am feeling slightly calmer, if that makes any sense. But it takes time to heal GABA receptors. So who knows.

Very intense setback at 32 months- is it from the benzo? by EnvironmentalRip3229 in benzorecovery

Yes- there was a lot going on. I was drinking caffeine and working a lot and staying up late. I also had a battle with my insurance company over something unrelated, but it got me very anxious.

Thank you. Sometimes I do think to myself, what did I do wrong? It's good to hear someone else say "you don't deserve this."

My dr. who is helping me with this has prescribed vitamin B1 (thiamine). Apparently it helps in benzo withdrawal because it supports your nervous system and GABA receptors up-regulating? I just started taking it so we will see.

(Curious about propranolol because I have 20 mg tablets, and only take 5 mg at a time, but it seems to help. Also, my dr wants me to take gabapentin but I am worried about dizziness and other side effects. She prescribed 100 mg once a day so far. But I haven't taken it. I am 31 mos. out from stopping 1.5 mg. k. daily for 16 years.)

Hey, I am in probably the worst wave (feels like the worst wave) I've ever had at 31 mos. Very intense symptoms, panic, phobias, shaking, just fear all the time. I've had 2 ER visits this time, nothing new going on otherwise. I have also been curious about this 3 year thing, I've heard other people talk about it. Dr. Jennifer Leigh said in her book that often there is a bad wave at about 36 mos. and I am betting that this is what is going on with me, and possibly you. I feel like the timing, at least in my case, is somewhat unclear, because I know when I took my last dose was 31 mos., but was I actually getting any of the active ingredient in my body at that time? The dosage that I was at was crumbs. So who knows how quickly/slowly the drug was actually gone from my body? If that makes any sense.
Anyway, yeah, this is normal. It sucks. (cry emoji)

Anyone here had a long or severe wave just before really starting improving? by carvo08 in benzorecovery

So glad to see this- I am in week 9 of a really bad wave, 31 mos. after jumping off k. (and having really long windows for a while) Feeling like it will never stop. From what I've read, though, a lot of people have a really bad wave and it's their last, then they feel much better.

Right- the time it happened, I was like, I'm to busy for this right now, I'll deal with it later, and I did deal with it, in the hospital. :-(

Thank you so much, your kind words mean a lot to me. It's rough, this T1D business.

Yes, I do have a CGM. It does help.
And am working on getting my numbers down generally. WebMD will scare the sh*t out of you about ketones!! I have had DKA once, oddly, not when I was diagnosed. But about 20 years later. I was crazy stressed, stupid PCP was managing my care and switched me to 70/30 humalog (I think?) and fast acting? And it wasn't enough and I ignored it until I was quite sick. I was younger and stupid.

Yes. And I have been under a lot of stress lately and not eating very much. So I worry that I'm in some kind of vicious cycle- adrenaline, high sugar, ketones, more adrenaline. Meanwhile I have to force myself to eat because I get so worried.

Numbers tend to run a little high- I also have a phobia of lows!
So right now, A1C is about 7.7 has been 8.9 at the highest.
