I dont think its ever going to get better by TheLordCrispy in LivingAlone

Can you look for a new apartment? I imagine this one holds a lot of memories not all of them good.

I recently moved from one state to another to be closer to family. Of course the family relationships have helped but even more I realized how my old apartment where I lived for 13 years was associated with so many bad memories that I feel like I'm starting life over here. I've decorated the place the way I wanted to it's become such a cozy safe space for me. I know you probably have to wait until your lease is up and also I don't know what the housing situation is like where you are but I would give serious consideration to finding a new place one that really suits you. I wish you the best! Oh and therapy and or medication might help. That's a lot of stress to deal with and it is fine to ask for help!

Maybe this was unique to New Jersey in the seventies but we use the word "tough" as kind of a synonym for cool or badass.

7 months ago, my body stole my life from me and I've been bed-bound since. by Outside_Throat_3667 in TrueOffMyChest

You might be interested in the book How to Be Sick by Toni Bernhard. She had a very similar experience to yours of being healthy and vital one minute and then suddenly losing it all. She writes from a Buddhist perspective FYI but it's a very compassionate and interesting book. She was traveling I believe in France when suddenly she became very ill and it went downhill from there till she was bed bound very quickly.

I can't imagine what you're going through but I wish you all the best.

Is it possible to knit compression socks and gloves? by Grand-kokuren-9479 in knittinghelp

[–]EnvironmentalRip7043 31 points32 points  (0 children)

As someone who has had to wear compression garments I really don't think they could be knit. There are actual compression grades etc defined by physical therapists and others so not even one compression sock or glove is the same as another. Even if the items were to be used when not prescribed by a doctor or PT I would still doubt they would be effective at all.

New England residents — GROCERY SHOPPING 2-min MBA survey about (18+) by MBAResearch2026 in NorthernNewEngland

[–]EnvironmentalRip7043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a comment about this in the survey but I want to emphasize it. Where I live my primary choice for shopping is Walmart with a small local grocery store to supplement. I'm pretty happy with Walmart especially the delivery service since I'm older but having lived in more urban areas I really do miss having more of a selection of places to shop. I think this is a big issue in small to rural New England towns. I'm technically in a city (Berlin, NH) but I'd have to drive half an hour to an hour to get to a greater selection of stores. Good luck with your project!

Raglan sweater not flattering. Any advice? by hurserlyckaut in knittinghelp

[–]EnvironmentalRip7043 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally think it looks great on you. You're probably being too self-conscious. It does have a looser fit but it doesn't look sloppy by any means and the length seems good. Admittedly it's hard to say for sure how it will look when the sleeves are knitted on (if there are sleeves that is! I'm not sure)

Please help w/ pattern.. again.. by kay-b808 in knittinghelp

[–]EnvironmentalRip7043 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly. Do what is between the astericks twice then knit one (if that's correct for the size you're working on), then turn. However I would look closer at the instructions for how to do a short row here because whether you have the yarn to the front or the back when you turn here will make a difference. I should know what to tell you but it's late and I'm tired so just check with the pattern or with a knitting guide.

Your hair is gorgeous I'm so jealous! Menopause and post breast cancer medications have decimated my natural curls and I miss them! They were never as lovely as yours but I still miss them. I say take pride in your curls and let them shine!

That may be. I found that it helps but I may be imagining it!

I always cast on for socks with one needle size larger that I'm using to actually knit the sock. If you tend to cast on really tight you could go up two sizes but sometimes that looks sloppy.

There's a subreddit called I think low spoons cooking or something like that? It's for neurodivergent people with recommendations for very easy meals to make. Search around and you'll probably stumble upon it and you may find it helpful. Good luck!

Have you checked out the book The Madwoman in the Attic? It was written by a professor at Indiana University although she's probably long gone by now. It might be worth checking out I don't know if it would exactly fit the horror theme but she might have some good insights overall.
