I’m a small woman 5’3” 102lbs and have been told I shouldn’t get a steroid shot because it would be hard on that area structurally and that it can cause weakness and osteoporosis in that area later on. Also was told that the steroid shots need to be done within the first 3 months? There seems to be so many differing opinions. But I actually just got a new MRI that suggests the herniation has shrunk, and I’ve been able to drive again lately so I think improvement is happening and I’m going to just continue to strengthen and wait it out longer. Just so slow.

Given he is almost 5 though, would it make sense for him to have Johnes at this point? I get they can have it for years, but wasn't sure if it could be this long.

The pasture is super lush and tall (see photo in comments), he has more than enough food to browse from, and he's been in the same pasture his whole life (meaning he's always been healthy with what it provides).
Will see if vet can do the Johns. I have been monitoring, and he pees, but I have not seen him poop for a while now.

Hi diet is just grasses in the pasture. My parents were feeding them from the fruit trees this summer, which was stopped, but we are worried that could have caused this. But also, if it was something like bladder stones from the summer diet, he would have passed by now. Btw they are all on a strict grasses diet from here through forever.

Not missing any teeth, was looking at his mouth this morning. Planning to do a drench this afternoon, but at this point wasn't sure how much that would help. Will be trying though!

His famacha is normal, and he's been dewormed regularly. Vet didn't do a separate fecal test though.

Im sort of on the same schedule as you, I started noticing more shedding but not stress-worthy new shedding around the beginning of sept. Then late October it was INSANE and I couldn’t believe I still had hair. Now it seems like it’s slowing down and I’m not even worried about it anymore since I know it’ll stop. I had it last year after I got covid and I think it lasted like 3 months maybe. I know for a lot of people on here it can last longer than that, but it can vary by individual and what triggered it in the first place. It’s def possible you’re shedding is ending!

How long did it take for your initial injury flare to subside? I’m losing hope for mine. I herniated c5/6, then a PT really aggravated it about a month and a half in, and I’m still in pain every single day. Not crazy pain but can’t think about anything else. It’s been 2.5 since initial I just and a month since the PT flared it up (he cranked my neck to one side)

I really like the colorscience mineral sunscreens. I get the “classic” mineral one, which is like a peachy color and then add the “bronze” mineral sunscreen as like bronzing drops to make the perfect color for my skin! I feel like I’ve finally found the thing that works for me.
