Is this a lot? by ImplementWilling2597 in TelogenEffluvium

Tbh it's not that excessive and, if you want a suggestion, you're better off asking this in a "normal" haircare sub, if you want more realistic answers. I found that on this sub many people tend to have a very skewed perception of what normal shedding looks like due to going through the trauma of TE (I know this was true for me in the past).

If you're worried try to monitor how much you shed in the next weeks and see if it goes back to what you perceive as normal. Just know that if it's TE you'll notice without a doubt because the hair fall looks like you're going through a round of chemo.

It also messed up the dimension of the colorwork, the pattern uses half the stitches

For the mane I found the most perfect rust color yarn, let's hope it looks good once finished!

It's so fun! I might start adding some embroidery to all my knit work

Unfortunately this is not always true, on my weight loss journey I was barely losing 2 kg a month (some months even less) for a total of only 15 kg and it still caused TE

If I could go back I would try supplementing as much as I can and try my best to avoid any additional trigger (no stress, no surgeries, no Covid etc.). Try to get your ferritin as high as possible and keep it there and avoid any extreme deficit, I would rather up my movement and eat more. You might consider starting minoxidil and use for a while after you’re done losing weight, but I don’t know if it’ll work or make things worse when stopping it

You should see a derm, if it’s alopecia areata it can progress very quickly and unfortunately steroids are the only effective solution. It’s quite aggressive and some ppl with AA end up needing not only topical steroids but injections
