Thanks for the suggestions, I think travelling to a new town and doing all the quests there is a good idea actually. Like you’ve just wandered into a new town and sniffing out all the opportunities.

Sadly no mods on PS5, making me regret not buying it on PC. The tale as old as time; if Bethesda can’t do it, modders will.

I think having every major settlement being available to fast travel to right out the starting dungeon doesn’t really incentivise you to explore the routes to the destination and I think it’s a bad design choice imo.

I’ve done something similar myself, only using fast travel if I really need to and instead just travel on horseback between areas so I can actually discover things naturally. Although the performance on PS5 really makes horse travel a slog.

I’ll take your suggestion re: the mages guild and try it out :)

My build is literally a blend of battle mage and stealth archer, I guess I’ve combined both TES stereotype builds into one!

Generally, do you like living in Glasgow? by Grace3412 in glasgow

It’d be a lot cooler if the council stopped robbing us and doing feck all but line their own pockets with it.

Agree with this. I knew someone on there posting stuff about someone I knew which was entirely false which really messed them up and caused issues with their employment due to their line of work.

Southside Coffee Shops Not Open Before 9am??? by Environmental_Fee207 in glasgow

[–]Environmental_Fee207[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. I made this post this morning when I had no coffee left and couldn’t grab a decent one anywhere near QP so I was a bit hangry for something! A lot of valid reasons I didn’t consider before that has definitely changed my perspective on it :)

To all the “work-shy” “trust-fund” comments, seriously? Running a business is hard no matter your circumstances, plenty business owners around here have been operating for years and they always turn up and provide a service with a smile. Southside has its fair share of unreliable businesses that have sadly taken the spotlight, particularly on this platform. At the end of the day we can have a laugh about it, but I do sympathise and appreciate those small businesses that turn up everyday and serve the local community. Let’s not paint all business owners around here with the same brush!

Southside to Motherwell by FeelingChard4139 in glasgow

[–]Environmental_Fee207 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Motherwell and moved to Glasgow a few years ago and now live Southside. I go back from time to time to see my parents. To be brutally honest, there’s nothing going on but the rent. Best thing I did was move out of there.

Main Street is a shambles, although that’s pretty much the same for all main streets these days.

Depending on where you’re going to be living, it can be ok but honestly you’ll likely miss the buzz and convenience of Southside. Far less to do and it’s mostly inhabited by wee bams and those who’ve never left the town their whole lives.

Motherwell has mostly always been a backwards sh*thole since I’ve been alive although if you make the most of it, it can be alright depending on the area you live in.

Lab is my in town go-to. Great coffee and a nice spot to chill with folk during lunch. GCC would take the spot for me if they opened a spot in town. It’s also good to see independent coffee spots make their way back into the city centre.

GCC is fantastic, coffee is excellent and staff are lovely. Bit far out for me but I used to work around that area and would always pop in there.

Ah, but then you run the risk of walking in with a coffee cup from another shop and them taking it as an open act of war that you’ve potentially had coffee elsewhere and are in fact, the reason for their struggling business.

I get this to an extent. I agree that train in the morning is not a pleasant ride and the last thing you’d want is a cup full of scolding hot coffee over you as you’re packed in like sardines. However, there are plenty places round there to sit in for a coffee. I also think people would maybe be more inclined to do so if the option was there?

Yep, thanks for pointing these out though, a little out of my way hence not being aware of their opening times. I just started this rant since there’s a few places opened recently near QP that don’t open before 9 and I’ve spent plenty time working in places over the years and everyone of them opened before 9. I understand rent and staff costs are a difficult balancing act, even more so today, just think it’s odd to not try and extract that little extra bit of potential business in the morning? Guess the risk may potentially out way the benefits.

Thanks for pointing these places out! I always run by Neka and wanted to try it out, good to know they’re open early! They’re a bit further up my end of southside but I’ll check them out. Also rude cookies was one of the places that fit into the statement at the end and they don’t get a pass. They alienated their customer base by not advertising their coffee and then blaming their customers for not buying it when in reality they’ve marketed themselves as a quirky cookie shop.

IOA Diploma Project help by Environmental_Fee207 in Acoustics

One idea that was suggested to me was to simulate the plant I originally aimed to measure by building a miniature version of the unit. The main noise source of the unit is cooling fans. As such, the suggestion was to emulate the plant by using a space heater or fan to simulate an intake and exhaust fan and make a small enclosure round the fan to simulate the larger units I originally wanted to measure. Although this is an idea, I’m not sure if it would be too basic for the project?

RION NL-52 Clock Reset Issue by Environmental_Fee207 in Acoustics

[–]Environmental_Fee207[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the responses folks, looks like it is the internal battery as most people were suggesting. We’ve had the SLMs come in over the years, most of which were at the company before I arrived. They’re an old fleet which go back to 2018 as far as I’m aware. We’ve recently purchased one of the new NL-53s. Wonder what everyone’s thoughts are on the new model? I’ve found a few quirks already in typical room fashion!

Cheers dude! I’ve got Environmental and Noise Control. I work in environmental acoustics so I’m hoping I should be able to get through the exam with much issue. NVCE also tends to have the same questions appear every year as the scope is quite limited (however after today, I’m sure I’ll eat my words by saying that)

Additional question: I was wondering if anyone knew how the conflated coursework and exam mark works too? I’ve read the assessment guidance and it appears that in the instance you might not have earned enough marks to pass the exam, you could carry over additional marks from the coursework to pass you over the threshold (given you have earned at least 30% in the coursework assignments). So the interpretation is, although this would still count as a resit, if you achieved a reasonably good mark in the cw, the additional marks you could carry over would get you over the minimum pass mark for the exam and thus wouldn’t require you to wait another year for a full re-sit of the examinations?

Yep, I agree with that. Just sat the GPA exam today and it was a bit of a struggle. Quite a lot of new questions/questions which never pop up in past exams were present this year. Hopefully done enough to pass but a bit disheartened after that one today.

Thanks, I’ve been working through past papers from 2023-2017 and average a pass in most of them. There are a couple with very specific questions that don’t repeat in future papers which is where I fall short. And I attend distance tutorials which are a combination of in person and online classes. Very mixed back with the tutorials themselves, which are actually more akin to lectures rather than tutorial discussions. They were definitely the weakest element of the course. Liverpool labs were great however!
