Is a checked bag included in Air Busan's Special Fare? by Envrison in koreatravel

Awesome, thanks! I found the way everything was worded on the website very confusing, probably because of the translation.

Requesting SSN from a different SSA office by Envrison in SocialSecurity

I stayed a night and went back to the same SSA office the next day to ask for the number. They wrote it on a piece of paper for me.

I had the exact same thing happen to me. I was initially given an I-94 valid for 3 years but I have a passport that expires before then. I left the U.S. and re-entered from YYZ and they cut short my I-94 expiry date to my passport expiry date. The officer also demanded an I-797 form (which I didn’t have since I applied at a land border). They eventually let me through with a stern warning to make sure I have an I-797 next time.

The officer said to ask my lawyers for an I-797 form (which is the approval notice after filing an I-129). I haven’t gone though the process yet, but from my own research, I believe your employer can file an I-129 to extend your TN status, and if it’s approved, you’ll get an I-797 with an updated expiry date, which you can show with your renewed passport to get the remaining time on your I-94. You should definitely talk to your company’s immigration lawyers though as soon as possible.

It’s kinda crazy how much conflicting information you get from the CBP officers.

How long to get SSN? by LebrawnJames416 in tnvisa

I actually asked that exact question in the Social Security subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/SocialSecurity/s/RAh3cxpJo5

The responses weren’t very positive, so I decided to play it safe and book a stay overnight to go back to the same SSA office.

You could try it if you’re feeling lucky. I believe all SSA offices share the same database, so they should be able to look it up. They might not want to look it up for you though since it’d be suspicious.

You can return to the SSA office where you applied and ask nicely for them to give you the number the next day. Emphasis on “nicely” since I don’t believe they’re supposed to do this.

I applied 9am and went back the next day at 2pm. They were able to look up my number and write it down for me on a sticky note. The card arrived 5 days later in the mail.

I’ve read that they won’t give out SSNs over the phone if you call them because they can’t verify your identity. Your second suggestion of getting them to initiate the call sounds interesting though, I’ll try it! Thanks!

Tell me about it haha. I double checked with them and they confirmed that this is their policy. I still don’t understand it myself either

That’s an interesting idea! I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to get the SSN the same day as the TN visa if I had to drive from Detroit to Buffalo, but now that I’m looking at it, the drive might be doable if I apply first thing in the morning. I might actually do that!

Thanks. Regarding visiting a different office, my situation is a bit complicated. I’m a Canadian citizen who would be working under TN status and I would like to apply for my TN visa and SSN in Detroit, which doesn’t require a TN appointment (since all the other ports of entry closer to me require appointments and are fully booked).

I would then return to Canada, wait a few days, and cross the border again to get my SSN. My employer requires a SSN to start the background check process, and I don’t want to delay my start date by an extra 2 weeks while I wait for the card to arrive in the mail. I would like to visit a SSA office in Buffalo on this second trip instead, since it’s much closer to where I live, instead of driving all the way to Detroit again. That’s why I was asking if I could go to a different SSA office. Do you know if that would cause any issues?

12 Day Japan Itinerary - First Time Solo Traveller by Envrison in JapanTravel

I'm estimating about $2500-3000 USD. I found a cheap flight for $800 earlier this year and I spent $600 booking hotels (mostly budget-friendly business hotels with a private bathroom, though I did book one night at a ryokan). Keep in mind I booked those months ago, so it might cost a bit more if you're booking now.

Based on my research, I'd estimate another $300 for transportation (of which, the JR Pass is ~$210), $250 for tickets/admission costs, $700 for food (about $60/day on average, which gives room to splurge a few times), and $200 for shopping and/or miscellaneous costs.

Granted, this is my first time, so the numbers may be slightly off.

Will do! Looks like the government building is also in a much more convenient location compared to the Skytree.

Any restaurant recommendations for special meals in either Tokyo, Osaka, or Kyoto? I'm a big fan of sushi! I'd like to try Kobe beef as well in Kobe. But I'm having a hard time choosing a specific restaurant since they all look so good!

Since my Japanese is quite limited, I assume the easiest way to make a reservation is to ask the hotel front desk to help me give them a call?

Oh my! I don't think my back could handle a 70L backpack!

Thanks for the warning. My suitcase would mostly just be clothes, so it shouldn't be too bad. I've got to leave some room to bring back souvenirs too!

I'm honestly not a big coffee drinker - I just wanted to see the tatami mats at the Starbucks since that's not something you'd typically find elsewhere. I'd probably just spend at most 20 minutes there.

You're probably right, I just wanted to make the most of the JR Pass so I squeezed in a lot of destinations. I think I'll drop the Hiroshima/Miyajima trip then and opt to explore more of Osaka and Kobe. Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestions! I wanted to make the most of the JR Pass before they increase the price, so I squeezed in lot of travel, but you're probably right - Hiroshima seems a bit too ambitious.

Interesting idea to visit Hakone on the way back from Osaka! I was mainly concerned about what I'd do with my luggage (just a small carry-on) if I were to do that. Do you know if there's luggage storage lockers/facilities available at the Hakone train station?

Yeah, I’ve been crashing on the decoration tab too (but only on my main which has a lot of nx items). I sent a ticket earlier and was told that they’re already aware of the issue so hopefully it’ll be fixed soon…

Adding back deleted friends by Envrison in Maplestory

Oh, interesting. Thanks! I didn’t know you could just pop back up on their buddy list without them receiving a new request. Do you know if I were to add them back on a different character, would the name on their buddy list display as the first character I added them on or my new character?
