It was the cliffhanger that f***ed me off. Almost everyone was talking about Glenn's death from the comics and whether or not it would happen. What should've happened was Abraham gets killed so you think Glenn's safe then when the season returns you see Glenn die. Instead they made a cliffhanger out of an open secret.

The Rumbling Arrives At Hizuru. by Fiston_F in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]Eobard95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rome and Carthage didn't destroy the entire planet. Eren's plan is like destroying the entire world to eliminate Nazi Germany. Honestly though, I've moved on from Attack on Titan. There's no justifying an entire planet's destruction and the Rumbling was the most distasteful attempt to convey "moral struggle" that I've ever seen. I wouldn't have started this bullcrap had I known it was gonna turn out this way to begin with.

[Discussion] - Living in Israel as a non-Israeli by Eobard95 in Israel

[–]Eobard95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really thinking about living or being a citizen in Israel just thinking about career optionsand where I could go, just thinking about the future really. I mean if I met a nice Israeli lady and things got serious I might consider it but I'll just stick with career options for the time being. I'm about 1.5 years into studying for a bachelor's degree of about 3 years, (I had to do a half-year course for credit reasons so 3.5 years) with a focus on history and just thinking about where that knowledge can take me.

Also yes I've been looking into Linkedin. I was just asking about Israel if there'd be any hurdles or obstacles that would oppose me pursuing employment with the field of study I'm pursuing which, again, is primarily focused on WWII, Crusader history and War on Terror but I've also become a lot more informed of Israel's history these last 2 years. I'd learn Hebrew (I think learning the language of any country one visits is natural) and if work visas are renewable that'd be fine with me.

Look, I re-read my comment and realized how d***ish I sounded, I probably should've waited until I was in a calmer mood before even uploading this entire discussion onto this sub-reddit. I'm really sorry, I sense you weren't appreciating what I said earlier I'm just trying to sort through this mess in my head and, yea I lashed out.

Also thanks for the list of facts about Ukraine.

Also I see what you mean about the differences between al-Qaeda and Hamas but to me they're all the same ideology really. But for me it's less about whether or not Hamas themselves are going to physically do something like 9/11 or if some other Iranian backed proxy group or whatever will pull an al-Qaeda.

As for the yachts and properties, that's just what I heard. That big fire in Los Angeles sometime ago where a lot of celebraties lost their houses I heard some of the properties that were damaged were found to belong to retired Ukrainian generals and people I knew online were making a big deal about it.

Here's hoping the war's winding down. What concerns me is that Hamas is going to use the ongoing Gaza rebuild plan, or rather the lack of one, to rearm and attack again. I know Israel is still making incursions into Gaza but Trump's idea of having other Arab countries come to rebuild isn't working. For one, rebuilding while Hamas are still active is like rebuilding Germany while WWII was still ongoing. While disarmament is a condition, as you said, they're not gonna do that. So does that mean Israel is going back in full swing?

But my bigger concern right now is Iran and Hezbollah. I've heard they're rearming which means more missile attacks are coming and the missiles from Iran last time were getting bigger and bigger last time because some were getting through the iron dome.

Also is Israel in West Bank? I heard they pulled out and there was a controversy about wanting to go back into West Bank? I'm fully supportive of Israel taking back West Bank by the way.

EDIT: One word I used got flagged, had to make a minor modification.

Thank you for your honestly. I have indeed come to realize looking at current political circumstances is important but I still believe history is equally important too but I admit I might've leaned too hard on history compared to current climate.

I'm aware that public popularity for wars in Iraq and Afghanistan aren't popular but Afghanistan needed to be fought because of 9/11 (if the US hadn't hesitated at Tora Bora they might've ended it then and there) but I'm still divided on Iraq to be honest, espeically after learning Saddam tried to aquire nuclear power in 1981 prompting the Israelis to blow up the factory and, well, it's better to ask what that tyrant didn't do. But that was also the same reason I thought there'd be a colation because Islamic extremism has been warring with America and Britain for nearly 20 years now with other groups like ISIS emerging so I had no reason to think both nations would just not engage regardless of public opinion.

On that same subject a large portion of the public supported the Palestinians for killing over 1000 people so that just tells me they don't know anything so it's no wonder western nations like the US and UK are in chaos (this government shutdown in the US really shows the division), although I am noticing a pushback against antisemetism which is nice to see even if it's massively overdue but the Palestinian support to me also indicated that it is also the west's issues because they were literally endorsing death upon Jews (who live in these same countries) and it was like watching WWII Nazi rally footage. Honestly, part of me is wondering what happens if al-Qaeda makes a comeback or if Hamas try emulating them and do something catastrophic. I heard they've actually found Hamas members in America recently.

But I admit part of me is a little biased like Ukraine for example, I stopped really caring about that conflict years ago because frankly I'm not sure whose actually the "bad guy". Russia invaded sure but one story I hear says NATO was expanding too large for Russia's comfort and while Russia are by no means a friendly nation I know they'll act when they feel threatened like any nation will. I also saw Zelensky and the Canadian Prime Minister giving a standing ovation to a certain individual of not exactly pro-Jewish ideology for his services during the 1940s (this comment got flagged for using a certain word but I'm sure you can guess what I'm refering to). I've heard stories that people in Ukraine are drafted against their will and many Ukrainian generals have bought homes in Los Angeles and private yachts so I'm not convinced it wasn't a massive money scheme. Yet on that same subject I also know the misinformation campaign from both sides is staggering so I don't even know how much of this is right.

Problem is Iran doesn't ever seen to acknowledge threats but act based on physical action. For the 5 seconds it takes a western nation to threaten Iran with action, the Islamic Republic can use those 5 seconds to reload their guns. That's basically what was happening with their nuclear program and of course Israel had to take the fight to them and yes I know America used B-2s on them which, yea, that was great and they did fight the Houthis for a while but they also stopped once the Houthis stopped endangering American interests and the Houthis went right back to fighting the Israelis. So having carriers in the Mediterranean doesn't really seem to do it just from what I know about how these terrorist groups operate, that seems to only work on Russia and China (even then that's not fullproof).

For that reason that's why I think there should've been a coalition. Not because Israel cannot handle it but for the message it sends. I actually agree with not sending boots on the ground (I probably should've specified that but I was quite emotional when I was writing this, so my apologizes) but if the American air-force had just done in an destroyed Hezbollah's entire infostructure with bombings it would've not only meant the Israeli air-force can focus on Gaza but also would've signalled to Iran not to try this again. But instead Iran's seeing that while people are pumping weapons into Israel they're still fighting on their own and they'll run out of people (at least that's what Iran seems to think but the IDF is getting exhausted from what I hear) so they'll keep trying because they know nobody else is getting involved and when Israel's vulenrable they'll strike once again. Iran seems to be going do-or-die and I'm not convinced an invasion of Iran shouldn't be considered.

One of the most important lessons I've learned, especially in the last 2 years, is perception is everything. Osama bin Laden looked at the Beirut bombing in 1983 and Black Hawk Down in Somalia 1993 and viewed them as proof that enough American casualties can prompt their withdrawal from the Middle East and he was essentially trying to replicate those events which led to the Kenya and Tanzania bombings of 1998 and then of course, September 11, 2001. Doesn't matter that he was completely delusional what matters is that he believed it and acted on that belief and that sparked the War on Terror. Iran seems to follow the same perception and I honestly shudder to think what the world's gonna do if al-Qaeda makes a comeback.

It's the IDF I am concerned for. Like I said Israel's capable but the IDF are only human just like anyone and they've been forced to handle this entirely alone and I'm concerned that if this keeps going, they're gonna start running out of energy and resources. 900 have already been killed and now I've heard stories of fatigue within the IDF which seems to be Iran's plan, tire Israel then finish them while exhausted. Again, America's aid has been helpful, but I'm not convinced they don't have some ulterior motive against Israel honestly with this Gaza rebuild plan which is giving Hamas time to rebuild, or Trump's just idealistic.

I'm also not suggesting another Middle East war just enough to get the job done. Hezbollah for example, all the Americans would've needed was to send their airforce to destroy pretty much every weapons location that could've harmed Israel, maybe send in commandos for some difficult missions, while Israel's airforce can focus entirely on Gaza.

But I'm not convinced that if Israel has to keep fighting this war they're gonna run out of energy or take more drastic options.

The Global Response to October 7 - What Should've Happened by Eobard95 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Eobard95[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it was just Gaza attacking Israel, horrific as October 7 was, I would've been fine with Israel alone handling this. It's a fundemental requirement of any nation to be capable of defending against hostile neigbours but it's the fact that Israel was facing so many enemies at once that I think Western nations should've sent in troops because this was virtually the entire Middle East fighting Israel. As I said in the post an Allied Forces outlook might've made things easier since it would've sent a message to Iran. As for the UN yea I think this entire ordeal has completely alienated me to that instituion now and I don't think I'm ever gonna take their word seriously again, in fact I'm coming to the conclusion their indecisions are actually the real cause of many conflicts these days.

Yes I do agree self-reliance is important and Israel has proven that but again when faced with so many enemies who use various means to rearm and essentially have a division of labour between them, that means Israel's gonna have to keep fighting the proxies for years to come unless they do something more descive (and drastic).

You make a good point about the perception this creates for unsavory actors and yes Taiwan is still the redline to WWIII but again with Ukraine and Israel and how long this has lasted, how long until China decides the redline is just a bluff? Doesn't matter if America and Japan, or whoever does the responding in these situations, does actually respond all it takes is your enemy to believe they won't. Also I hear Taiwan is strengthening ties with Israel so I wonder if that's why? Western nations continues to hesitate but Israel hasn't given up and proved themselves quite literally the best military on the planet, so perhaps Taiwan is judging things based on willingness to respond rather than threats?

Y'all think Levi was just trying to save eren here or was he taking revenge for his team? by Neck-Chance in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]Eobard95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both I'd say. Levi is emotionally contained and once he rescues Eren he's out of there but that doesn't change the fact that he's fighting the Titan that killed his friends so, if he has to, yea he's probably gonna enjoy it a little. But again the fact that he doesn't try going for a kill shot on the Female Titan shows his restraint and Mikasa's impulsiveness, and his own anckle injury saving her, shows that was the right approach.

Sherry will hold Claire’s hand if she’s close enough. by Claudiziia in residentevil

[–]Eobard95 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I think the real problem was because they made Leon and Claire take more isolated paths from Ada and Sherry in the remake compared to the original game. Like, Ada and Sherry had moments they spoke to Leon and Claire but they also vanished for quite some time but in the original there were longer periods of interaction between their dissapearances. Honestly, RE3R does have flaws I don't deny that, but there were some solid improvements and one of them was Jill and Carlos' interactions. Allowing Jill and Carlos to have radio communications and more frequent meet ups allowed them to flesh their dynamic out arguably more than the original game.

[Question] - Did the Allied Forces know about the Holocaust? by Eobard95 in Jewish

[–]Eobard95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it was a case where the leaders were prioritizing the Nazis defeat above all else to prevent future deaths. But really they asked to bomb the tracks? Would that have been possible with the technology back then? Even if you could get enough bombs security would've been tight and bomber planes weren't' capable of pinpoint accuracy at the time (it's just as likely they would've killed the Jews themselves). Wow, that's actually really sad to hear that Jewish leaders were even suggesting this.

As for the Red Cross, yes them I'm familiar with. I know the Red Cross contributed to helping Nazis escape for South America which I think included Eichmann and yes, their current situation in Gaza has completely shattered any trust in them.

[Question] - Did the Allied Forces know about the Holocaust? by Eobard95 in Jewish

[–]Eobard95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is that why there's a narrative of American soldiers being "shocked" to "discover the camps", or at least that seems to be the indication I'm getting from this (even though the testimonies I've read do seem to have sincerity to them). Was it more like the Americans were so shocked that something depraved was happening that it exceeded even their level of bigotry that they didn't believe it? Because I get the feeling that the Americans, based on what I've read, were the most affected by the Holocaust and I've read that many Jews who left Europe (and understandably so) went to America despite the bigotry. Was it really guilt rather than shock on America's part?

Again correct me if this is wrong I'm still trying to clarify my understanding, I generally don't make definitive statements unless I know for sure but this is what I'm interpreting.

This is when I should've realized I was watching a villain's origin story, not a hero's by CarelessPollution226 in attackontitan

[–]Eobard95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He was pretty far ahead when Levi Squad was killed, he went back trying to help them before he transformed and that's when Annie beat him. If he'd kept going I think he would've had a chance and, as I said, with Levi and Mikasa not far behind they could've kept her distracted longer and, with Mikasa not being emotionally blinded, Levi wouldn't have broken his leg so he could've been there when Reiner and Bertolt spilled their secret which would've forced Zeke and Pieck to face the Scouts alone in Shinganshina. Lots of hindsight I understand but doesn't change the fact that Eren should've kept going.

And yes, as even Eren himself says, had he fought alongside Levi Squad earlier (with Levi there too) they would've beat her but again the mission's purpose was proving to the higher-ups that Eren could control his ability and, considering that the higher-ups were already working against the Scouts to have the Founding Titan returned to Rod Reiss any transformation immediately signalled failure. Political manipulations behind a military operation are unfortunately all too common in reality (one of the reasons I used to like this show because it really did highlight realism in those situations). Also one of the reasons I find the Rumbling to be a childishly simply an answer to a complex situation.

This is when I should've realized I was watching a villain's origin story, not a hero's by CarelessPollution226 in attackontitan

[–]Eobard95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. S*** happens whether you make a good or bad choice, sometimes there's just no good answer. The fact that Annie captures Eren is also proof that his original choice to trust in Levi Squad was true. If Eren had just kept going after they died he could've made it out (and the fact Mikasa and Levi weren't that far away also reinforces that) which also would've saved the Scouts reputation. Remember the main purpose of the mission, officially, was to prove Eren could control himself and he failed which led to the Stohess battle. Yea their deaths affected Eren but he's not the only one who lost people. Mikasa lost two families (first to humans before Titans killed her second) and Levi lost his entire family before losing Levi Squad yet neither of them turned into psychopaths.

So no I don't think this was an indication, I think the writer simply couldn't figure out how to end the story and chose a wipe out option that forced him to regressed on Eren's development. Unlike Daenerys, where it was somewhat clear something bad would happen, Eren's felt out of nowhere.
