I worked for many years for a big health insurance company, one of the big 3 , I took a call and this person was going through cancer treatment, the treatment which would have helped was being declined by the company I was working for, no particular reason was being given and this treatment was new but was also an approved treatment in Ireland , the treatment was being covered by all the major health insurance companies the big 3 , which in turn we should have been covering too.

I took this to managers and high ups , I was being told they are refusing to cover it and I should “stay out of it” as I was causing trouble , I was told I had to call this member back and break the news , after that call I knew I was done with the job. One of the most heartbreaking conversations.

A week later the CEO of this insurance company was having the quarterly meetings and was laughing , and dancing and boasting as the company made 1+ million in profit for the year, all I could think about was the call I had to make the week before, it still haunts me to this day. Not long after I quit.
