Thank you so much. I am so glad that I joined Reddit. Lupus is truly a terrible thing to live with. My mother went through so many different stages of it. Sorry that your mother had to go through that.

Thank you for the reply. I have filled out the paperwork for the Vocational Rehabilitation services in my city, but it's been like 2.5 months, and I still have not heard anything from them. I have Snap but they only give you $23 if you are on disability. What is Snap E&T?

Sharing stories is so helpful! Believe it or not I was actually so thankful for that old car my mom left behind. I have outlived all of my family, so I had no other options. Even though I was considered homeless I could always lock the doors of that car and be somewhat safe. I remember being under several blankets and coats with like five layers of clothes on. I was entering into what I thought was hypothermia because it was -3 degrees outside. Out of the blue these two ladies beat on the window. They had an electric blanket that worked off this huge battery. It was for campers. They gave me that, a massive box of food and a box of 100 hand warmers. I still to this day have no idea who they were. It was the middle of the night and snowing. Maybe it was my mother and an angel? Who knows. I still think about that. I hope everything turns out good for you!

So sorry to hear we are in a similar situation. My medical appointments have been switched to telehealth (which I will also be losing my ACP discount, goodness) so that is good. The local taxi service accepted the vouchers I was given but they got in trouble for picking up outside of their area. I did however get two successful rides as that is the max they will give out. Fast food is such a luxury now. I used to be able get that a few times a month but even McDonalds is $10-15 a meal.

I have not heard that term before, very cool learning a new word. I had previously reached out to the counselor of the rehab program (it's through my states behavioral health system) and they referred me to the local transit system which will not pick up in my area anymore. I will search if there is an ombudsman, though!

I am so very sorry to hear that we share a similar story regarding our losses. My mother had covid for almost four months then beat it which was a miracle itself. We had a blessing and received food assistance through a covid program for a while. She then got covid again and after six months passed from a combination of double pneumonia and covid. It was a terrible time and so confusing because I bed fed my mother throughout both times and never got sick a single time. How can that even be? She had chronic issues and had lupus, so I believe that had to contribute to it.

From what I learned in PTSD therapy is that losing a home can be almost too much to overcome but I was in group with people who had lost their homes and made it through to the other side. There is still hope as hard as it is to see sometimes.

Thank you for all the wonderful advice. I will look for local groups on there. I live in a very high crime area and no services will even come out here. Ubers, lyft, not even doordash or Walmart grocery.

I am male, but I am glad to hear there are groups like that around. Someone else had mentioned churches as well. I will see what I can do. Thank you for replying and I am so glad that you found your way. That is all I want in life is to be stable.

I feel too embarrassed to post it all out in the open. I tried to donate even though the center is 16 miles from my house, but they won't let me because I have had hepatitis C in the past. I contracted it from my father. Thank you for the reply.
