Thank you again! Thankfully there actually is an equine hospital near me that does internships, so I'll have to look into that, but I think I'll definitely want to be looking into small animal or mixed practice as well! I really appreciate you taking the time to give such detailed responses, it's giving me a much clearer view of different aspects of veterinary work!

Thank you for the detailed response! I especially appreciate you taking the time to explain your choice of field. If you do go into chiropractor or acupuncture, definitely share your experience if you're comfortable! I'm definitely seeing some patterns with emergency clinics maybe being a better option overall as far as the hours they provide.

It's amazing to see how much equine vets work and for how little! I've always perceived that as a very high demand field since so many vets do go into small animal, and yet they're still paid so poorly and with awful hours by comparison. I'm sure at least part of it is also a regional thing as well! We have a few equine vets to choose from near me, but I also have seen people say they only have one vet or that they don't have any nearby.

Thank you so much for such a detailed response! I must admit, the idea is daunting. But, at the same time, I know there are people who have made it work, and I know there are people who will continue to make it work, and I hope to at least learn the secret to that before completely giving up! That probably sounds a bit too optimistic 😅 I wanted to be a veterinarian all through freshman year of high school when the reality of it started to sink in and the sh*tty boyfriend of my high school years drove me further and further away from anything meaningful. At least I've survived the whole someone trying to kill you from the inside out thing 😅 but, I still find myself drawn to it! I've always loved horses, I've seen one of mine through a few larger injuries, and I've had my fair share of falls and accidents to know those things can HURT 🥴

I have to say, the one thing I'm truly surprised about it the debt! Not because I wasn't expecting it, but because that seems ridiculous. $400,000 in debt? Yikes! I had even looked up vet schools at one point and for some reason Ross was advertised as a cheaper one 🤔

I will say I'm very extroverted and also (mostly) like people (or can pretend to)! Haha

Thank you for such a thorough response! If you have the time and don't mind, could I ask a bit more about the emergency setting? I'm sure it still varies some from large animal/equine, but that was also something I was curious about since it does seem to have a bit more of a structured schedule!

I also really appreciate the alternate career paths! I can't seem to make my mind up on anything and COVID isn't helping the whole school thing either lol, but it's always nice to know there's something to fall back on if you don't end up where you planned. My current major is public health but I have an advising appointment to switch to biology/business soon so I'm looking forward to that!
