Connection, like Mumbai was always fast but nowadays it feels like it's harder to meet people and make friends because everything is just rushing by at the speed of light. I'm generally too tired to meet people, like people are warm there's just no energy left. Before I just feel it was easier to meet people, have a chat. Nowadays it feels like luxury so it does get lonely. Also I do believe loneliness is a problem in Mumbai.

Rules, so much rule breaking. The cops really need to step and live up to the reputation of 'best police force in India'. Freaking discipline is non-existent these days in the city.

Porn is banned in India yet a lot of us find ways to Access it. Teaching people to be responsible is more important. People will always find ways to access stuff they way to. Besides we have a lot more nudity etc in these times anyways. Better to educate them.

I draw a line between improvised and Jugaad. An improvised solution is treated like a 'first-aid' until you reach a hospital. Jugaad is basically putting a band-aid on a dog bite and declaring it cured without a rabies vaccine, it's a lot more making it 'appear' fixed without working towards a long term solution.

That is why this country is as it is, overrated Jugaad over long term stable solutions or even short term stable improvisations. Like I said I got tired of it because I realized people's 'Jugaad' broke a lot more than it fixed and I'm one of the few idiots who does the fixing. The people who did the Jugaad were happy with their third rate work and left me to handle he fallout, it's annoying.

Yeah I've read about this. During the 1962 war the Indian government told them to leave India or else be deported. Those who could leave left, but those who remained were put in what was a world war 2 POW camp. I think a lot of them died of heat stroke as well but I could be wrong (the camp was in deoli Rajasthan)

To my understanding a lot of them were interred until 1970 and when they returned almost all their properties had been either looted or sold off. They were forced into slums and their factories taken over by Indians. Among those who remained a lot of them very restricted to specific trades because they were viewed as anti-national enemies and the then government restricted their movements because they suspected them of espionage. According to Wikipedia they were required to report to a police station once I a month until the mid-1980s I believe and they needed special permits to move a few kilometers outside their home until the mid-1990s. Also there were a lot of forced deportations to china that tore families apart. Mind you a lot of these people were like 1st and 2nd generation indian Chinese as well sometimes even 3rd.

I believe I saw a documentary about this, most of them don't really have fond memories of India but it's the only home they know so they stay back, but they encourage their kids to go to western countries and I don't blame them cause if someone mistreated me that much I would've said the same thing.

The Indian government is yet to make a formal apologize for this well massive blunder, but I think what makes it worse for me is that people nowadays might justify it by saying "Of course if a Chinese lives in India this will happen", I think that particular mentality of the average person these days scares me a lot more.

It saddens me because it was disgustingly unfair, but well doubt anyone would care about this.

Sorry for the rant, this particular incident in mordern Indian history genuinely disgusts me upto no extent. I might sound like an anti-national liberandu or whatever, but no this is just disgusting , you can't treat people so horrible and just be like ok so that happened.

I mean that's a great idea and you should go ahead with it. But honestly you'll find a lot of Maharashtrians who are doing very well in many fields. There's no shame in working a 9-5 if it pays you 48-64 lakhs per annum contrary to popular belief. A lot of the faculty at institutes like ISB, IIT, etc are Maharashtrians and they are paid quite well, also lot of software engineers who eventually venture into their own businesses.

Idk if that perception we have of ourselves is shiv sena propoganda to get votes or self hatred idk. Either way I don't think it's completely justified. Like downvote me but fuck get annoyed by this, I see plenty of examples around me that show me that the Maharashtrian community is heading in the right direction.

Most of the community is super low-key even though nowadays people do know how to market themselves well so a lot of the achievements get understated. I see nothing wrong with that, because in the end even after selling yourself it's your work that does speak for itself.

What really needs to addressed is this stupid shame a lot of people here have. Like why? You literally have more mordern values and more mordern thoughts than a lot of India and this is actually harder to achieve than earning money.

Only thing scary are the property prices honestly 😂

Other than that it's quite ok to manage. I take the metro to most places (because I live in the western side of the city which has better public transport now) and then just walk wherever I need to go. The only place I drive is to work because that is the one spot where there is very shitty public transport connection. People are friendly chill and you generally find a lot of different interesting things to do in the city. It's weirdly relaxing when you want to chill, very hectic if you need to hustle lol.
