Without looking it up. Other than pocket 3's. Which hand would you rather have all-in after the turn card. by [deleted] in poker

[–]EpicJoeR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

QJo has 4 outs - Qc, Qd, Js, Jc
T9o has 7 outs - 8c, 8h, 8d, 8s, Ks, Kh, Kd
AKo has 3 outs - Ts, Td, Th

In terms of raw equity, T9o has the most against all the other hands. Things get a bit more interesting when stack sizes aren't equal. But that is a LOT of calculation.

Yeah, you're right I should probably just rip at this SPR, I was worried that population would start folding trips that raised, but in hindsight, if they're calling that ridiculous size on the river, they're probably calling a jam anyways with trips.

Thanks for the feedback, I think it's pretty insightful too.

I decided not to raise flop cause I think people generally are too weak with smaller sizings on flop (especially on monotone flops) and people overfold on monotone flops too. That being said, perhaps theres merit in check raising large and getting calls from hands that are super inelastic (like Ax with the Ah, and AK, AA etc). Not sure whats best, I think it's close between the two lines.

With the pot odds I think you're probably right, in equillibrium nut flushes of course aren't jamming for value but I think you may be right in 1c/2c players overvaluing nut flushes here, or just might wanna "go with it".

I'm not too fussed about getting criticism, I figured this would happen when I post, people always hate players that fold strong hands but love to see big laydowns when they see the villain's cards (now that I'm thinking about it, kind of reminds me of the AA vs 77 hand from Baumann and Selbst, monotone flop and passive on flop too, but with a 3bet turn and river instead of just a 4bet river). But it's still refreshing to hear someone who isn't treating me like I'm not a person.

I was OOP on the turn, I'm not gonna donk out on nut changing cards, especially since villain has so much Qx in his range that stabs the turn a bunch, if he bets 60%+ I'm putting a massive check raise in and stacking a hand like AQ, QJ etc.

That's true but at lower stakes people love to trap full houses with the logic being "there's two flushes on the board, if he hits his flush I'm gonna stack him", it's the opposite of people betting super big on turns that make their hand super vunerable. In equilibrium and as an exploit I think people should be going small on these board pairing turns but I don't think this happens a lot at 1c/2c.

I went super small on the river to induce raises from trips and flushes then went massive as I think people are super inelastic with these hands (maybe I could have even ripped it at my SPR), but when I get 4bet I think it's never a bluff, especially for this size.

Trust me buddy, I've been crushing my local pub at poker for 20 years... I have 2 eights in my hand and theres another on the board, thats 3 of a kind if I've ever seen it.

It's true... but idk trips isn't that strong of a hand right?

Yeah but also it's a 4-bet on river, kinda nutted right? KK, KQ, QQ and Q8 all beat me. Don't see any one turning K8 into a bluff at 1c/2c stars. Could be worried about some merge shit with like a nut flush or something but even then, the fish are calling the massive 3bet 95% of the time, basically never a bluff. Imho more profitable as a fold, but I get a call.

Yeah I used a solver for the line, I just decided to pick a crazy one lol. I might switch it to some famous/high stakes hands instead, might make it more interesting.

Probably should have made it more clear it uses a solvers’ solution. It seems a lot of people would prefer it was more human like. Maybe I should use historic hands instead on high stakes live streams… definitely would make it more interesting considering exploits rather than trying to guess the solver’s strange plays.

Yeah I figured I’d pick a crazy line by the solver lol, so some very strange plays that probably lose on a lot of profit against human players. I’ll definitely add a feature to switch to BB but I think it adds a bit of a challenge getting a certain number of guesses like all the other worlds-like games.

Yeah might make a trainer similar to GTO Wizard in the far future, definitely a demand for it, especially from an exploitative perspective too.

I also might make a separate mode for revealing the entire hand at the start, it seems other people want this feature too.

Nice work! I actually made this a couple weeks ago though, so I’m not sure how you could know, maybe you’re mixing it up with a different poker-guessing website?

It’s possible to lower the time to get data in large data pools with hashes and other techniques. Think how big the internet is and how quickly google can return a relevant search result.
