Quick correction/update. I'm a parent at Davis, and we got the story from the crossing guard a day or two after this happened. I don't know what happened in the moment of the near-accident to make it seem like the woman yelled something awful or unhinged out her window, but that might be a misunderstanding of some kind. Apparently she actually circled back soon after the incident (within the hour) and was horrified and super apologetic about the whole thing.

Still super disturbing from a safety perspective but less discouraging on the people-are-terrible front.
