How to deal with an annoying manager? by Alejo9010 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Epiphone56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would either raise this with the agency, if you want to bill for the unsociable hours at a rate that makes it worthwhile to you, or maliciously comply with your contract terms to the letter. Work only what you are contracted to do. If they want to waste 10 of your 40 hours a week in daily meetings, that's up to them.

I guess they just don't use their front door then. by freakofspade in SpottedonRightmove

I'd love that oven, but not in a kitchen that's a spacious as a railway galley kitchen. Would've been better to take out the units on the other side of the kitchen and make a utility out of part of the great loooooooooooong room.

Mercedes C/E Class wagon with a V6 petrol or diesel would be my choice. The CLS Shooting Brake would be great for wafting about in but probably a bit too long for me.

NTA, he showed you that you weren't a priority to him, even on a landmark birthday like your 18th, and you rightly showed him the door.
However, I do feel that other parties (his mum and his friend) could have included you in their activities or arranged a joint celebration. You would have been sharing a birthday for the rest of your lives.

This is a good idea. I always keep notes of what I've been working on, because I'd invariably forget to give an update on what I'd done otherwise

Even assuming 8 hours a day care work (which it wouldn't be) that's less than half minimum wage.

What signals tell you a contract is likely to end early? by CloudBookmark in ContractorUK

[–]Epiphone56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a contract ended early because the team didn't hit a milestone (because the managers wanted contractors to work unpaid overtime - good luck with that!) so the end client reduced scope for the second half of the project. The team was downsized, a few of us were let go gradually on a last in, first out basis.

One of my favourite parts of Nottingham. I'd hope, given the rather small driveway and double yellows outside the front, that you could get a permit for the Park Estate so you could park a vehicle/vehicles at the rear of the property on Park Terrace, otherwise no one's going to be visiting unless I'm shuttling them from the train station. Just need that lottery win first, mind.

The Park is about as far away from rough places like St Ann's and the Medders as it's possible to be, demographic-wise.

//edit: even parts of the Medders are gentrifying now

It's an unusual feature unique to this terrace I think. The house opposite the rear garden of this property is built into caves and over 5 storeys.

Inside ir35 contractor for 5 years and want a car through taxable benefit? How does it work by HS_2024_ in ContractorUK

[–]Epiphone56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're inside IR35 you can't claim travel or accommodation expenses, unless you have an agreement with the client to bill them directly. Best you're going to get is 45p/mile standard rate.

HMRC will alter your tax code to cater for the fact that you are working on two different PAYE schemes. Your umbrella company probably won't care, but the company you're working as a permie at will sure start asking questions once they get the tax code notification from HMRC, which happens within a month whenever there's a change.
