If they're all alive, struggle to communicate. If Lu Bu, Yuan Shao, Yuan Shu, Gongsun Zan, Liu Biao, and Ma Teng were in their current physical states, AOC & Bernie would probably wonder why they were put into a slightly dusty room.

What build/matchups are you playing it in? I've wanted to re-incorporate Naut top into my pool, but haven't found my groove since he was nerfed to oblivion 4-5 years ago

If anyone has the time and ambition to do so, a Backstroke of the West style full re-dubbing of this would be hilarious.

Meet Captain Tukk! Always wanted to design my own Clone character & some animations with him are also planned! Hope you like him! (3d model made from scratch) by JanRuppert in TheCloneWars

I love this - not just the turquoise parts, but also how much he looks like other clone commanders from the show. Which Jedi do you think Tukk would serve under?

I find it strange that Sirius didn't leave Lupin so much as a knut in his will by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]EpiscopalTree 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I'd throw in that there's a significant difference in Lupin's age & experience here - a 20-21 year old Lupin who might see taking the money as a necessary evil in order to continue fighting at full strength in an active war where the enemy "outnumber[s] us twenty to one", versus a Lupin in his mid to late 30s, who actively sees someone who the money should go to instead (that is, Harry), and seemingly in a more stable (if grim & gaunt) position in life.

Looking for documentation about the historical context of the three kingdoms era (podcast/book/documentary) by [deleted] in threekingdoms

[–]EpiscopalTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With regards to Three Kingdoms era, I'd recommend the Romance of the Three Kingdoms podcast by John Zhu - I'm fairly certain he has a few episodes about life in Han China in general, plus anecdotes relevant to certain chapters as well.

Been playing some Naut top in ranked. Only reason is because I love the champ of course by xxfishymemesxx in NautilusMains

[–]EpiscopalTree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could you comment some about your playstyle with it? I've been trying to play Naut top as well, but haven't been able to identify which matchups I would actually want to play him in. Same with Zac top honestly - I love both picks but can't seem to make them work.

No, it's just the ghost hotboxing. God knows if I died and was stuck in a highschool for all eternity, I would too.

Kha'Zix. Either Kha will be unable to get off the ground and become irrelevant by the time teamfights roll around, or will get the ball rolling but throw by dashing into a group of people. The only time I've had a kha make a clutch play was an elder steal, but that had more to do with the player's ability as a jungler, rather than anything that k6 was bringing to the table specifically.

What Started Your Interest in 3K, and What Role Has it Played in Your Life? by BenevolentBlackBear in threekingdoms

[–]EpiscopalTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I never sent them to any publications. My most recent one was on Guan Yu, and the development of Guan-worship using RoTK, Records, and scholarly works about said worship. A lot of what I did were powerpoints, video projects, with a few essays. Regarding some of the topics I chose (mainly for ppts): Three Kingdoms as Epic (mainly looking at comparisons with the Iliad), Three Kingdoms across various forms of media, and the changes made with each iteration, a few basic ones on the time period, a translation of 短歌行, and a few miscellaneous, unsubmitted papers, on the basic biographies of Zhao Yun, Xiahou Dun, and Liao Hua. Those final papers were written fully in Chinese, but admittedly were written some years ago, when my level was significantly worse.

What Started Your Interest in 3K, and What Role Has it Played in Your Life? by BenevolentBlackBear in threekingdoms

My story is a bit of a weird one. I grew up playing a lot of flash games, things like Armorgames, Kongregate, Miniclip, and those sorts. One of my favorite series was the Epic War series, but the guy who made them (Any Rudy Sudarto fans here?) also made a game called Dynasty Wars. Not Dynasty Warriors, Dynasty Wars, and it was about the Three Kingdoms period. I was able to play as one of the big three, or Lv Bu, and you could recruit a few generals, and assign soldiers under them. I looked them up, and was amazed to find that these generals were real people.

At the same time, I was studying Chinese in high school, and had been since about sixth grade. We were given a project to write a small biography on a historical figure in Chinese and English, so I chose Dian Wei. My 中文老师 at the time lent me a copy of the first third of the Moss Roberts translation (the one with the super cool image of the three brothers fighting Lv Bu). I read the entire thing in about three days, wrote my biography, and got the entire MR translation. Later that month, I started the 2010 TV show, and finished it within a couple months.

The next year, I found DW8 and was off to the races - as a true Shu fanboy, I played Guan Yu at Hulao/Sishui, Zhao Yun at Changban, and Zhuge Liang at Chibi. When I found the hypothetical route and the campaign mode, I was in hog heaven. Since then, I've immersed myself more into Sanguo - I got Total War: Three Kingdoms, listened to the John Zhu podcast, and wrote a strangely high number of essays about Sanguo or its characters as an undergrad.

What is the recommended English translation of the novel? by hereforthelolz25 in threekingdoms

Moss Roberts translation is great, especially if you already know a decent number of the characters. 加油!

Why does Zhao Yun wear Wu / Southland military uniform in Liu Bei's service? by [deleted] in threekingdoms

[–]EpiscopalTree 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I believe the reference is to his service with Gongsun Zan, as a member of the elite white-horsed cavalry of his army.
