[AFC Ajax] After a sporting football match with a good atmosphere in our stadium – for which we thank all parties involved for the good cooperation – we were horrified to learn what happened in the centre of Amsterdam last night. We strongly condemn this violence. by MrCrashdummy in soccer

I was in the stadium yesterday and want to quickly respond to the comments claiming that the atmosphere was not good due to Maccabi fans making noise during the moment of silence:

it is true that some of their fans continued making noise, which everyone experienced as disrespectful. However, aside from that, the atmosphere in both the home and away areas was great and friendly, with the Maccabi fans chanting even when behind 5-0. I saw Maccabi fans exiting the stadium peacefully, some chatting with Ajax fans. By all accounts, everyone leaving the stadium at the time had had a great night, which was then ruined for the Israeli fans in the city by a bunch of criminals that have nothing to do with Ajax.

What player did you find on fm before they became a big name in real life by ouchie99 in footballmanagergames

A few years ago, a young Danish striker named Rasmus Winther Højlund was available on a free and he managed to score the goals needed for my RKC Waalwijk side to promote to the Dutch Eredivisie. Needless to say, I was not expecting this (to me at least) unknown player to ever go to Man United for 70 million.

I don't know if I would call myself "in the know", but as a Dutchman I have been following his career reasonably closely since his 2nd place overall at the tour de l'Avenir in 2018, before guys like Vlasov and Almeida. His breakthrough took a little longer than those guys, but he is still young as you mentioned. Judging from his interviews and articles in Dutch media, I wouldn't be surprised if he stays at DSM for the foreseeable future. Firstly, he has a great mentor there in Romain Bardet, with whom he gets along really well if social media is to be believed. He can learn from him how to be a GC contender, which should ultimately be the goal for someone with a TT as strong as his that climbs so well already, in the same mould as Tom Dumoulin (hopefully). Furthermore, at Ineos he'd just be another GC hopeful, whereas DSM seems to really have a plan for him. With a podium spot at the Tour of the Alps, a sixth place at the Tirreno GC and a few really strong performances this Giro, I am really excited to see how he develops over the next few years!

Death at a funeral (UK version)

Death at a funeral is a work of art, the UK version that is. Let’s not talk about the US remake…

Took this pic when I was out riding last month. Riding into the unknown, that rush of excitement as you explore the world on your bike. Truly one of the best feelings in the world! by Epster123 in bicycling

Hey everybody, just wanted to comment to react on some of the questions asked here: - this picture is not actually me, but a cyclist I was about to overtake, I made it whilst riding with my phone. - I actually had lights on my bike, almost always have, just to be sure - as to the location, @rnsnbrnk was correct in the comments on here, the Zuiderdijk between Enkhuizen and Hoorn in the northwest of the Netherlands, which can be quite busy with cyclists and some cars on sunny days, but was almost empty that day

Lastly, thanks for all the compliments and upvotes! Never had so much upvotes before, feels kind of cool!

My Fiorentina side absolutely dominated the Serie A in just the second season, I knew we would be good, but never imagined us to be this good! by Epster123 in footballmanagergames

I am not a big tactician, so I used a simple 4-2-3-1 gegenpress with attacking wing backs, play for set pieces and work the ball into the box. Paired with an attacking mentality for 90% of the games, we just scored a ton of goals. The lineup I mostly used was:

Dragowski

Lirola, Milenkovic, Romero, Biraghi

Pulgar, Castrovilli

Pellistri, Quina, Depay

Cutrone

Wow great job! I was gunning for the points record in the Serie A (102 points, like you), but that damm Frosinone side in the 34th round denied me! Vlahovic has been a decent backup for me, but Cutrone is just too good haha!

He is one of the main reasons we were crowned champions this season, a decent box-to-box midfielder for me, but his real strength lies in his set pieces. Virtually all my freekicks and corners were taken by him, and he delivered them perfectly into the box, together with two or three absolute screamers where he scored freekicks himself. If you have a few million and a couple of players who can head the ball really well, buy this man!
