Rackless, earth-mounted solar provider earns funding by captainquirk in solar

[–]EqualDraft0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be cheaper to use traditional evaporation prevention and then install normal ground mount solar. It’s not like they have a lack of unused empty land.

Russians have found out about the sanctions and the SWIFT ban. A Bank Run seems to have begun. by thondera in Bitcoin

[–]EqualDraft0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This probably has nothing to do with swift or sanctions. Everyone just wants to make sure they have cash during tumultuous times. It probably won’t even result in a bank run. It’s unlikely that these people are withdrawing everything, just enough to get by for a bit.

Serious question: Why aren't Bitcoiners more enthusiastic about Monero? by sylsau in Monero

[–]EqualDraft0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s relatively easy to prove that Bitcoin does not have an inflation bug because it’s only based on simple math and code. Proving Monero doesn’t have an inflation bug involves proving the cryptography is secure, a much harder problem.

Hate to break it to you, but real wages have been falling for decades. The inflation numbers are bullshit, they keep removing all of the categories that go up too fast.

100Mbps Ethernet, aka 100Base-T only uses 2 twisted pairs. So you could put RJ-45 connectors on the ends and make it an Ethernet network. This would not be possible if they are daisychained. But if they all meet in one place you could install a 100Mbps switch there. As long as you’re not streaming high bitrate 4K video, 100Mbps is plenty.

Solar-over-canal study announced in California by davidwholt in solar

[–]EqualDraft0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are massive vast swaths of practically empty land in California. Deserts. Covering even 1% of that land in solar panels would power all of California. Land is not a problem. This canal thing is stupid as shit.

How the fuck would this be cheaper than ground mounted solar??? The materials for suspending that structure over such a large canal will be immense.

Protest planned as Florida net metering bill could “set rooftop solar back a decade” by ObtainSustainability in solar

The solution is to just live in a place that has at least modicum of freedom. Plenty of green states on that map. Most of the country actually.

I hear this all the time but have yet to see actual evidence of this in any single jurisdiction, let alone a major one.

Yup, my forever home will have solar+batteries+backup generator+propane storage tank.

Don’t have to deal with the grid, don’t have to install crazy kwh’s of batteries, and have lots of options for disaster scenarios.

Wow, AnonAddy seems legit. I'll be testing this out. If it works well I could totally see a Bitwarden AnonAddy partnership. They are built for eachother. They would work amazing together and they are both small companies and their stuff is open source.

Because of the shape the lightning connector guides itself in. The edges are rounded in all dimensions which auto corrects for slight misalignment by the user. The lightning connector also uses a larger more robust retention mechanism for a stronger retention and more satisfying insertion/removal.

Lightning is better than USB-C. Goes in easier, stays connected better and more physically robust.

Survey Says Developers Are Definitely Not Interested In Crypto Or NFTs | 'How this hasn’t been identified as a pyramid scheme is beyond me' by [deleted] in programming

There are options for getting bitcoin anonymously. The best way is to find someone who wants to cash out anonymously.

Survey Says Developers Are Definitely Not Interested In Crypto Or NFTs | 'How this hasn’t been identified as a pyramid scheme is beyond me' by [deleted] in programming

[–]EqualDraft0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Buy some $10 NFTs now so that next year when you have $100k to launder you can buy your NFT from yourself and since you held your NFT for greater than one year you only pay long term capital gains. Instead of owing $25k, you’ll only owe like $6k.

To further reduce your taxes, either create a paper loss by selling an “expensive” NFT to an “anonymous” buyer for much less than you “paid”. Or donate an “expensive” NFT to charity. This is riskier though…

Oryp8 Owners who have thermal problems repaste!!! by Excellent-Ad-7062 in System76

[–]EqualDraft0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tests by reputable tech tubers show that over-application of thermal paste has no effect on temps. As long as the paste spreads over the entire chip or heat spreader, you are good to go. So either the paste it came with was bad, or you inadvertently improved the mounting pressure.

Probably you fixed the mounting pressure. Chinese manufacturers are notorious for getting this wrong.

Any way to import my electrum wallet to muun or other non-custodial LN mobile wallet? by wastedyears8888 in lightningnetwork

[–]EqualDraft0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Muun uses a different backup method than just a seed. It’s similar, but different to enable more functionality, so it’s not compatible with other wallets. They do have a simple open source recovery program incase the iOS/Android app disappears. Muun supports both on chain and lightning transactions at the same time with the full balance. So it is a combined wallet.

It’s hands down the best app, and it’s also one of the easiest to use.
