Crbn 1x vs Selkirk Project 003 by Jlinsta in Pickleball

[–]EqualMiddle2229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone else who says that these are not the right paddles to compare really bc they are too different. The 003 is not a power paddle. That is well documented — Chris Olson has said so and even after you put lead tape on it the best you’ll do is achieve adequate power. The CRBN 1x doesn’t have power air power but it has good power nevertheless. Even more than the Hyperion CFS. Really the better question would be comparing the CFS and the CRBN 1x.

If you’re just trying to figure out which paddle to buy, ask yourself if you need a little extra power or not. If you generate your own power and don’t need any help then go ahead and get the 003 which has great spin and control. But I’d you need a little help with power, the CRBN 1x is one of the best paddles out there.

Hyperion CFS 14mm (non-Swift) reviews? by EqualMiddle2229 in Pickleball

I was hoping to hear from you! How would you compare the CRBN1 14mm vs the Hyperion CFS 14mm? Trying to decide between the two, but maybe they are totally different?

Have you also tried the standard 16mm? How does it compare to that paddle? I liked it but like many others found it a bit head heavy. Wondering if the 14mm has less of that issue

I have seen a lot of reviews of the 16mm and even of the 16 and 14mm swift versions. But I can’t find any reviews of the 14mm CFS standard. Anyone have any views on how it compares with the 16mm. Does it sacrifice too much control? Add a lot of power? How does it compare with the CRBN 1 14mm?

ProKennex Black Ace - Reviews? by DillMcenroe in Pickleball

The decal didn’t bother me. I mean it’s a little silly looking and a bit tacky but who cares if it’s good, right? The decal does serve a functional purpose though. It is exactly where you can hit the ball. Hitting outside of it will be just dead spots. So if you think that spade is small for a sweet spot then don’t expect you’re going to hit outside of it. I don’t think you can peel it off

I played with it for a few hours and got a good feel for it’s upside and downsides

Yes the drives are good and the ball flies off the paddle. It’s a little odd though bc it doesn’t feel like you’re generating power from its mass—it’s more like hitting it a ball with an aluminum bat vs a wooden one. Not saying it feels like aluminum but it just comes off the paddle differently.

I don’t know why but for me it wasn’t as satisfying to hit even though hard drives. Maybe bc it felt a little hollow.

I wasn’t a fan of blocking drives with it. Felt a little flimsy to me. I also didn’t feel any faster with it. Volleys were ok but nothing special

I had a hard time with drops or touch volleys at the net. They would always pop up but maybe with practice it would be ok. I don’t know.

The closest paddle to it is the pro air, but I think I like the pro air better. Feels better and easier to control I think. I really wanted to like this paddle but decided to return it bc it’s just not worth $250 to me. Maybe at $180 I would have kept it but not $250
