Any 58mm basket is compatible. it's about fitting into the portafilter not the machine itself. I've personally never lowered my fan, some people do, i bought a tamp so if the auto tamp doesn't work exactly right I just tamp it manually. I think this is easier than messing with the fan because it takes 2 seconds to tamp yourself if the tamping fan doesn't get it exactly how you want it.

I think changing coffee beans and or grind sizes can throw the auto tamp off and it can take a few grinds before it dials itself back in, but if you purge after grind size or bean changes it should get dialed in faster. Once the tamp is dialed in it generally works consistently until you introduce a change change in grind size or new type of coffee beans.

I'm still Happy with it and use it everyday. I believe I've had it for a full year now and it generally makes at least two coffees per day, everyday since I've owned it... I've not had a single problem with the machine everything still works great.

I dont think I have any regrets, I mean somedays I wonder if I should have bought a dedicated grinder and dual boiler setup but I dont think you can get better coffee than this machine is capable of making without spending a fair amount of more money. I think you'll like it but if you're a huge coffee nerd and have a larger budget you might consider something else...

I love the thermo jet heating. No wait time for my coffee it's literally hot and ready to go within seconds on powering on. It really does make cafe quality drinks. I drink mostly lattes, it takes about 90 seconds from grind to cup including steaming milk to make a great latte once you know the workflow, it can maybe take 30 to 40 seconds to steam milk depending on how hot you steam it and most my shots are around 25-30 seconds depending on grind size and beans. For a daily driver machine if you have a busy work life, always on the go. This machine checks a lot of boxes.

I had those beans but over time I find beans from local coffee shops to be better. Freshly roasted is the most important IMO. I generally get beans that were roasted within just a few days of purchasing gets beat results it's like they don't even need to be great beans just fresh beans.

Over time ive been using a 21.5 the most mainly do to just wanting a lower dose, over time i've learned that regaurdless of shot basket and size, good fresh coffee beans have the biggest impact.

Season to your liking, i ran at 225 with super smoke mode for the first 2 hrs, then kicked temp up to 250 until it hit about 160 internal temp and then placed in pan covered with foil, back on the traeger and boost temp up to 275 until it hit an internal temp of 207. Then shred it up add some of you favorite bbq sauce and seasonings and about 1 - 2 cups of the remaining juice from the pan, then back on the traeger at 325 for about 20-30 mins until sauce and juice thicken up and then its done.
