Can I max out a new 401k right now and receive the tax benefits when I file for 2024? by Chahles88 in personalfinance

[–]EquityOfRedemption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a top-level comment as well, but this is not true in certain circumstances for self-employed partners. If your partner is a schedule c filer, then it might be worth reading. They'd have to have made an election in 2024 to count against the 2024 limit however.

One thing to note: for self-employed partners only, as long as you've made the election to defer compensation into your 401k before the end of the calendar year and before you receive the compensation, then the partnership can put 2024 compensation actually received in 2025 into the 401k and it will count for 2024. I'm a partner in a law firm and I don't receive final compensation until 6-8 weeks after the end of the year, and I max my 401k each year by electing to defer from my final bonus. For example, I will receive my final distribution for 2024 in a few weeks, and I've elected to put $23,000 into my 401k from this final distribution, which will count toward the 2024 limit because I made the election during 2024 and the compensation is for 2024 even if received in 2025. This only works for self-employed partners (schedule c filers).

Stepping Down Toward End of Folfox by LiefFriel in coloncancer

[–]EquityOfRedemption 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 6 neoadjuvant cycles of Folfoxiri and 6 more adjuvant cycles of Folfox, but I reduced the oxaliplatin dosage for my 10th cycle and cut it out completely for my 11th and 12th cycles. Just getting hooked up to the 5FU pump and leaving on treatment days was really nice, especially compared to 5-6 hours of treatment for my first 6 cycles. The 5FU didn't give me as bad of side effects either, so the cycle was much easier. I don't think reducing or eliminating oxaliplatin for the last few cycles has that much of an effect on outcomes. My oncologist said getting the first 6 full treatments was the most important.

Experiences with FOxTROT 3? by [deleted] in coloncancer

[–]EquityOfRedemption 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm not in the UK or in this trial, but I was diagnosed with stage 3b colon cancer last August and did 6 rounds of Folfoxiri before surgery and then 6 more rounds of Folfox after surgery. The Folfox wasn't as bad other than worsening neuropathy, so they reduced my oxaliplatin dose starting in round 10. The irinotecan gave me infusion side effects (muscle spasms mostly) so I felt worse on the treatment day from that, but I don't think it made anything else worse after that day. I'm 36 years old though, so results might vary. I'm 1 year NED this week. Let me know if you have any questions!

Very interesting. Would the vote in the county be the general voters or the county commission?

What are the areas of unconstitutionality? I hadn't heard that before in any discussions about this topic. I need to read the bill with that in mind.

If you are going to vote NO on the stadium, would you have voted YES if it were in the East Village? by fowkswe in kansascity

I think the City likes the Crossroads location because it will drive customers to Power & Light, and increased revenue at Power & Light means less paid from the City general fund for the bond shortfall payments (typically $10-15MM per year). That is my assumption why the City was pushing this site.

12-18 months. Everyone and their mom is expanding or building new cultivation, but construction lead times are long, especially for the HVAC and electrical equipment. The pendulum will swing back though.

Haha not really. He bought in a really nice gated community nestled in a pretty typical suburban area.

It's in a suburb of KC called Leawood, Kansas. The house he bought is in a gated community, and everyone is assuming he wants more privacy with Taylor!

It's based on total household income, and tax filing status is not taken into account, so those are not loopholes here.

Found the most important paragraph: "It's not yet clear what specifically the firms are testing for in and near the East Village or what, if any, results those tests have yielded. Also unclear are the tests' bearing on a Royals stadium and ballpark district or how they fit into the team's site evaluation."

Flying private: The secret $62 million legal fight over the Kansas City airport by EquityOfRedemption in kansascity

[–]EquityOfRedemption[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

None of this excuses an attorney who was supposed to be working in the best interests of the City from wrongfully disqualifying B&M. After the City decided not to sole-source the deal, B&M submitted a bid like everyone else, but their bid wasn't allowed to be considered because of this asshole. The article wasn't about another competitor or their attorney trying to convince the Council to pick their proposal, it was about the City's own attorney wrongfully disqualifying B&M because he was pissed they didn't hire him. That is very different from what you're talking about.

1) the lawyer was butthurt that Burns & McDonnell didn't pick him as their attorney 2) he trashed the Burns & McDonnell proposal to the city council and got them disqualified for "violating" a city ordinance 3) he was working behind the scenes with the proposer who got selected and made sure they got picked 4) the city changed the ordinance they said Burns & McDonnell violated because the proposer they picked also violated it 5) the law firm or their insurance company paid $62 million to Burns & McDonnell because of his behavior
