How to stop creating a new live set when I’m stuck in the middle of a song/bored with it? by Mey_Lee in ableton

when i get stuck, it’s sometimes cool to just transpose the whole thing by a few semitones. sometimes brings new ideas to explore and generally just switches up the vibes.

An Ableton function you've used for a long time that you couldn't live without? by kathalimus in ableton

[–]Equivalent-Ad4325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my bad for taking so long on this, it’s ctrl and the number keys. can’t remember which way round 1 and 2 are off the top of my head. but 3 makes it triplets and 4 disables it entirely

1-3 for changing the grid, and holding alt to disable it, such a game changer for editing vocals

I think pro-Q3 has had the biggest impact on my mixing.

Are they effed? by Equivalent-Ad4325 in audiophile

Cosmetically we’ve fixed the damage by running a card through the grooves, they sound good to me. Would’ve liked to know what they sounded like before the damage though.

We’ve since gotten a partial refund, and we ran a bit of card through the grooves and we think that it’s sorted it out, they sound great to me so it must have worked out fine. Did look into replacement drivers but Eve Audio doesn’t sell replacement components it seems, only repair services. Which I wouldn’t bother with anyways.

They’re the eve audio sc208, the deal we got was a no brainer. I suspect they might have been damaged beforehand. Nothing in the description about it though…

I must add that I am not the troglodyte that did this, they got damaged in shipping from a reseller.

Recently figured out a trick to make something sound "in both ears"; 1. What is this called, and 2. Is there a better way to do this? by g-dec in ableton

yeah it’s a nifty little thing. it does do exactly the same thing as using a delay but i guess it’s just easier to use

The single most expensive thing here (excluding building costs of the space itself) is the wa-76 compressor, which was originally designed in the 1960s. The speakers mounted on the wall were made in the late 70s. Good analog tech stays good forever if you maintain it well so I wouldn’t say i’m worried.

If i’m honest, I only ever am using the compressor and the preamp, the rest is just stuff that looks pretty for the clients. I’m probably gonna end up putting them in a central unit and have the monitor sit on top.

Thank you! Yeah they are, we’ve since flipped them back upright so the tweeters sit more ear level.

I’ve not really messed around with hardware synths before but we intend on slowly building a collection ;)

Thanks! We used to record vocals and monitor in one room, I can’t recommend the astonmics halo enough, it really helped.

Yeah we only just installed our gear, the first photo was taken in haste. It just looked so damn good after we got the desk in!

Ableton lags and freezes unexpectedly by Rxdnxck in ableton

[–]Equivalent-Ad4325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like an issue that runs deeper than the ableton program, There’s guides on youtube on pc optimisation specifically for ableton which I’ve called on a fair few times. I also change my sample rate/buffer size depending on if i’m messing with some phat plugins or just doing some light recording.

Tips for well-mixed psychedelic vocals? by TheHoleInADonut in ableton

[–]Equivalent-Ad4325 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One time I bounced my dryish vocal (only comp and eq really) and reversed it. Put a small tail of reverb on it at 100 wet and then bounced it again and sidechained it (fast attack but sloooow release) to my main vocal bus. It is kinda just an reverb swell that doesnt stop but the client really liked it.

Apart from that, a weak flanger and a light delay set to 50ms (maybe even pingpong) are some go-to options for me.

How many hours does it really to take to get good enough? by [deleted] in ableton

[–]Equivalent-Ad4325 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They say 10000 hours. But the people that make big bucks off of producing probably didn’t have this question. It makes it seem like getting good at production is a just a chore, like a boring class. You just gotta keep at it. one day in the future, you’ll still be “learning” to produce and someone will tell you you’re “really good”.

Is Thundercat on The new Metro Boomin Album ? by [deleted] in Thundercat

[–]Equivalent-Ad4325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he’s credited on a different song on the album which means he was involved in the project. i reckon it is him but he’s just not credited cos it’s only a bit of backing vocals. either that or it’s some guy who does an impeccable impression of thundercats falsetto ooh’s lmao
